I do use my iPhone as a personal hot spot for my laptop… Must of had a bit of a dumb moment with my first comment.
That's the one…. Although I only needed to sign up for 6 moths…..
I struggle to use 1gb/month.
I am on the $180/year 12gb Telstra prepaid iPad plan with 365 day expiry.
I would look at Amaysim (maybe) if my device supported UMTS900.
For my 3G laptop I used a $80 10gb/365d Amaysim prepaid data 'plan'. It worked quite well as my laptop has UMTS 900/2100 support. It expired last week. The plan was a bargain compared to Telstra. Only catch is the 20% off recharge only comes around every so often (normal price $100).
Woolies prepaid for usage 40GB/365 @$100-$200 pa- depending when you bought the vouchers.
+those many calls you can use via the mobile.I use TPG. They have month to month plans, so you're not locked into anything. $5 for 500MB is what I use since I have Wifi at home and that lasts me the whole month so long as I don't go nuts while I'm out.
For light use the Dodo Starter pack gives you 250MB/month for a year for under $40 (including a USB modem).

Anyways, best value for me was the virgin big plan $29/2.25gb month., but I paid $52 coz I wanted an iPhone too.
