What Kind of Bug Is This?

Recently, I have had a bug infestation around our bathroom, mostly around the window area. Sometimes it’s in the bathtub and sometimes on the towels.

At first, I thought it was ladybugs but seeing I was colourblind, I was wrong as my wife told me they weren’t even red.

I was wondering if someone can tell me what kind of bug this is.

Thanks in advance

If you took a better picture and flipped it over you could use a key to figure it out. Or even Google Lens.

The Steelblue ladybird is a real beauty

      • 'tis pretty …. it should be adopted as City of Wollongong's ladybird & feature on it's crest

  • Still going with lady bug 🐞

There's more than one species of ladyBIRD. Not all are as beneficial as the better kinds that prey on pest insects like aphids and RLEM.
Local ag depts usually have an insect ID app or entomology dept who can help.Possibly just another introduced species brought here by a dick smuggling produce through an airport. And looking for an ag sector to wipe out
A lady bug is the female equivalent of the man flu, or some sort of " special guest " infection picked up by weary travellers.

      Yep. Definitely a carpet beetle.

They’ll likely be spawning in a rug or carpet. Check everything. The little eggs also like hiding in between the planks of floating floorboards, and don’t come out via vacuum. The only way I got rid of them was literally spray and wiping between each plank.

      • Yikes!

The little eggs also like hiding in between the planks of floating floorboards …

How hardy is this bonza Aussie carpet beetle that it has adapted from it's traditional habitat to now also include floating flooring that is not of the carpet variety ?!?

        • Hahaha well to be fair it was the floating floor directly under the rug in question. And then at some point they grew too big to fit in there. But they were there… and they were annoying.
