Brand New Bosch Washing Machine Rusted Hose

I just received the Brand New Bosch washing machine and opened it today. I see evidences of water spillage inside the drum and interestingly the hose is rusted.

Other parts of the washing machine looks to be brand new from outside but not sure how the inside parts are dirty/ rusted.

Is this normal in new washing machine or I was sent a used one?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Update: Confirmed with TGG and they said like many people informed below where the product is tested and the the marks are from water testing. However the hose is different case and sales person person said this is unusual. He replaced with new hose eventually without hassle.
Thanks everyone for your valuable feedback ;)

Brand New Bosch Washing Machine Rusted House

Sorry to hear that. Maybe buy a wooden house next time.

I know that Bosch, AEG, and most likely other brands perform a functional test on each washing machine before it leves the factory.

Are you sure the plastic hose fitting is 'rusted'?

    • Thanks for the info. The hose for sure has like permanent rusted stain which is not going even if I try to scrub.

      • The connection parts don't appear to be metallic - the rusty looking deposit should wipe off. And it's attached to your water inlet so you'll never have to look at it again.

  • Funny enough, my mother got a new bosch dishwasher and I installed it for her today!

Mine had no rust or signs of water but interesting enough, the front protective film had water marks as if someone splashed water on the front and forgot to clean it.

Anyways, if I were you, Id call the retailer or Bosch ASAP and tell them the details and see what they say.

It is pretty funny that you installed a dishwasher for your mum somewhere between midnight and 2am.

What is also funny is that the OP is talking about a washing machine. 😉

    • Sure. Trying with TGG. hope the Gold service helps here :)

  • They test them before leaving the factory. Ours had the same. But our hose wasn't rusted. I assume they would exchange that no worries.

  • The drum will clean up with a damp rag, make some effort. The other fitting I would get looked at as it will probably corrode further…but after your warranty is finished. :)

Received brand new item under warranty that had fault.
Rather than contact supplier/manufacturer, I thought I'd post on OzBargain instead

    • Thought the same.

That's right but I setup only in the late night and observed this. Even tried calling the Good Guys around 7.40PM but just received the voice mail saying that they are not taking calls out of office hours :)

Its always best to get inputs from community, nothing wrong I believe. And even if they said something yesterday I would have checked in OzBargain for sure :)

Yours looks like a Serie(s) 8 (Made in Germany). We got a brand new Bosch washing machine a few months back, Series 4, Made in Poland. Anyway, ours appeared perfect, and did not exhibt the same issues as yours. My hose is identical to yours.

The hose is a bit concerning. It looks like baked on calcium, which doesn't form overnight, or after a single run. Likewise the drum appears to have hard-water stains.

On the rubber seal, at the bottom would be three holes where water can drain out off. Does this appear clean. This area often has standing water, and mixed with soap leaves a dark residue behind.

I don't know that to say. The drum, hopefully that cleans up. The hose, maybe that cleans up too. I'm just not sure if Bosch will replace it just because it has a mark on it (which might clear up with CLR).

Being an aqua-stop, these require a tech to remove the back cover and reattach the power cable which is used to power the valve in the head of the hose., so its not like they can just put a part in the post.

    • Thanks for the details. Yes, its same model that your are referring. They replaced the hose after visiting the store in person. Even the sales person told he never saw hose with these stains. He said he will report to Bosch.

    I understand your concern.
buying a new item then you expect it to be spotless.

according to Bosch all washing machines are tested before they leave the factory

the inlet house is all plastic , just wipe it down. it will not be a problem. the valve end is a sealed unit
the inside will wipe down as well - if it doesn't then take photos and contact the reseller

I see evidences of water spillage inside the drum and interestingly the hose is rusted.

Water is from testing, read the manual it will tell you this.

As for the rusting, lodge a warranty claim.

  • TIL plastic can somehow magically rust.

  • 1st call, supplier.
    2nd call, manufacturer support.
    3rd call…your mum.

  • When you called the store you bought it from did they say ask for support on OZbargain?
