Wireless Mechanical Keyboard, Potential Bargain for $18

I've found this keyboard for $18 (about $21 with tax)

https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005005738622480.html

65% layout 2.4ghz, bluetooth and USB-C connectivity, red switches, hot swappable (can change the switches), double shot keycaps, up to 6 months battery life off 2xAAA, even the keycaps alone are worth the asking price if you were to buy them separately.

It ticks a lot of boxes, I was going to post it as a deal but I'm having trouble checking out.

I just wanted to see if anyone else that might be interested in it might want to try buying it and posting the results?

It does say welcome deal so it may be for new users only, I've tried checking out 3 times but I think the first 2 times I had the address wrong and the 3rd time it says "Lock benifits user failed"

Looks like my keychron, but with a better feature set.
Comes in at $30 after GST paid with paypal with no coupons, which I agree is a pretty good price.

  • I like the keycaps, at least

That's the Ziyou Lang K68. The keyboard is hollow so it'll be noisy, the switches are generic and the key caps cheap, but so is the price so that's to be expected.

The switches are hot swappable so you could easily add better 3 pin switches and new key caps.

I'm not too fussed for the price, I just wanted it to play with and mod as I already have spare switches and keycaps and can fill the inside with foam etc. But I've given up on trying to buy it as the orders are showing cancelled and I've been charged for 2 of them.

Yesterday I bought a Royal Kludge RKG68 for about $72 and today it's $10 cheaper.. dohh.

Also I bought the Anko mechanical keyboard for $15 last week, this week it's $13 and they still have stock so I'm considering another for a gift.

I paid a little less than that for a hot-swap RK87 tri-mode with built-in USB hub a few months ago. Great keyboard, I like the two removable shrouds so you can have a classic, semi-floating or fully floating keys, depending on your preference. It's also super easy to do a custom paint jobs on those shrouds, if you are into that sort of thing.

      keyboard is hollow

plenty of space for some tape, foam (or sand) then, perhaps? :)

        Exactly

looks alright but ive always subscribed to the 'you get what you pay for' mantra

That is definitely not the case when it comes to mechanical keyboards and parts. You can pay a fortune for crap keyboards, switches or keycaps. Some cheap products turn out to be great.

That rule was changed. It's a "Choice Product" aka shipped direct from AlIExpress so it's allowed. Plus the store is Alibaba themselves.

      • good to know. thanks

  • Its still showing $18 for me despite what others see.

3 failed checkout attempts and I've just found I've been charged by PayPal for 2 of the orders.

I tried contacting the seller and it's just a bot that keeps repeating the order was cancelled, I tried to dispute it with PayPal and thats automated too telling me to contact the seller.

No it is $18 before shipping and taxes,

Final total was $21.40 (still not a bad price IMO)

Wait !! i think price of $21.40 (or $18) is the price for new customers ?? When I logged into aliexpress account price increased to $27.31 (pre taxes, and $30.04 after taxes etc.)

Its adding some coin discount to cart by itself too (of like $1.37 for me to reduce $30.04 down to $28.54)

        same.
open the above link in incognito mode and it shows $18.
go to buy the keyboard and you have to sign in , and then the price increase to $28~

      • Are you using the app or webpage?

In the app it changed the price I think so I tried checking out via the browser instead.

Yup ! $18 price is a welcome deal (new aliexpress customer) - AND also shows Max 1 per customer vs 3 per customer (for a non new aliexpress account)

personally I always use browser, its far more reliable. Less ady, junky too (and better for cashbacks too)

          • @USER DC: I only tried buying one, it's only because it failed I tried again and again.

Not sure what direction to go in chasing a refunded for the 2 it charged me for as AliExpress and PayPal are sending me in circles.

            • @ezarc:

failed I tried again and again.

seems like you creating new aliexpress accounts regularly and now Aliexpress is onto you blocking all those orders. (and cancelling them) aka you wont get new user discount now that easily.

              • @USER DC: No I didn't create any new accounts, I just used my my 1 account.

    Good price,
I paid like $28 or something for mine from amazon of a similar functionality keyboard

  • +1

I've previously bought some keyboards of similar price so I assume similar quality. Good project for someone starting out keyboard modding, but mine had hot-swappable sockets that would not fit any of my other switches. I was forced to use the switches which were not great and doing mods on the switches didn't help much.

If you can indeed get it at that price, then it's a great cheap intro to keyboard modding.

If you end up not liking the red switches, I can highly recommend Leobog Graywood v3 switches. Considering their low price, they are great.

    • I've got 2 keyboards with blue switches, I want to try

  • Accidentally sent the above message before it was finished…

I want to try box jade switches.
