Mattress & Bedframe Recommendations

Hi all, looking to get a queen bed + frame with hopefully a 2k budget. A couple of things:

  1. Those who have experienced it, is it worth paying up to get something in the price range of a SD MACH II from Sleepingduck, Luxe mattress from Noa or Premium Adapt Mattress from Eva? This is in comparison to some of the cheaper mattresses they offer i.e. The Noa, Comfort Classic, The Koala range.

  2. Overall I have heard Ikea is a no-go. If I am looking for the best quality on a short budget, how do brick & mortar stores i.e. Amart, Sapphire Wood, The Comfort Shop compare to online ones i.e. Focus On Furniture or Factory Buys?

It's not a massive budget and I'm planning on getting the best mattress first then focusing on the bed frame but I'd obviously still like something sturdy.

  • I have the original Sleeping Duck (Queen). Or at least the one they were selling back in 2016. Heaviest mattress I've ever owned. I'm a big, heavy guy and it supported me very well. If the SD MACH II is an improvement on what I'm sleeping on, then yes I'd recommend it.

I then paired it with the Eva Timber Bed Frame. Would also highly recommend as the Eva Frame (hehe) is easy to assemble, strong as hell and nice and low to the ground. The only issue for some however is that the frame sticks out a fair bit so you need to learn to give a bit more space moving around it. Also, if you have pets, it's a lot easier for them to climb up.

I have pet fish, will the Eva frame assist them?

It'll break their fall on the way down.

  • Got an Emma king few months ago and its amazing. That plus a king bed frame with lift and padded bedhead was around 2k. Dont get ikea mattresses.

My Eva mattress was good for about 2 years, but the pillow top is now pretty crushed and doesn't provide the best comfort any more.

Don't think I would go for a boxed mattress again.
