Hi all, I am looking for a 13.3" laptop mainly used for home spreadsheeting/work/occasional movie.
Things I need:
512gb hard drive
Good track pad
Good/bright screen
Decent grunt/i5 upwards
Things I don't care about:
Touchscreen
Tablet mode
We've loved the Dell XPS in the past and that would be an obvious choice, but this seems to have been discontinued? We also use a HP Elitebook for work (great but crap trackpad). Open to suggestions to try.

Is the RAM Soldered? https://www.xda-developers.com/can-upgrade-ram-storage-dell-… says so, but don't know if this is a redesigned model.
If you haven't made up your mind yet OP, go for the 16GB model for just under $1500.
Could go for a Framework 13 if you want something repairable and upgradable down the line.
$1689 delivered so out of budget, unless they choose DIY…
Macbook Air
MBA is a good option but I don't think it will meet OPs requirements due to price for 512gb storage.
A refurb/second-hand M1 with 512 GB can be had for ~1500. Honestly, no other laptop even comes close in that price range for quality.
Going the other way from the last two suggestions, you could look for a refurb with decent sRGB coverage and decent brightness(400 nits).
Honestly just get the m1air. For what you stated, it's just gonna work and it's got the screen, battery life, speed, great form factor.
Maybe out of budget with 512 g but could find one maybe refurbished/renewed.
I'd honestly get that at 256gig and use a tiny external SSD when needed.
No joke I've just talked myself into it as I'm also looking for the same thing.
I'm looking for the same thing, is m1/m2 air still the top choice? Costco had a few laptops to mess around with and I found the macbook air just massively better than the windows laptops on offer, some windows laptops over 2k even felt slow in comparison.
Dell XPS is still available.
