Gigabyte Aorus Master X670E - Stuck on BIOS startup screen with 3+ NVMe Drives (Once Using Chipset Connected Interface)

So I have an Aorus Master X670E motherboard. After much back and forth with tech support they feel it is defective and should be given back to a the place of purchase (which in this case is gigabyte australia oddly enough).

Checking online seems a few people are having issues trying to install a 3rd or 4th NVME drive (which are connected to the chipset and not the CPU) so a replacement might not resolve the issue unless perhaps there was a bad batch?

i was wondering if anyone here has this board and has successfully run 4 NVME drives on it without issues, so I know that it can be done.

I can run them via a PCIe to NVME adaptor in the meantime, but this is not ideal and the last drive doesn't run at full speed as result (pci 3 x2).

Yes, the board is running latest firmware and bios settings have been reset after the upgrade before setting bits the way I like them (low fan speed, EXPO profile etc)

  • Hope you solve your issue, I'm still on a Gigabyte AORUS X570 board still in storage nit built yet for years lolz,.. bookmarked for future purchase 😄

    • I hope I solve my issue as well - worst case I'll end up having to buy a new board (and probably go for Asus at this stage).

I have a B550 Tomahawk in storage as a 'backup' myself, but I do recommend testing it so if there is an issue you're still under warranty in case the board is duddy.

The network gods know I've had a run of bad luck recently with my boards.

  • Not sure if it helps, but I have the Gigabyte X670 Elite with 3 x NVME drives and have had no issues. I've not tried to add a 4th NVME drive though. I've got a SATA drive attached as well and all seems to run fine.

    • Thank you for sharing your Elite experience… I've emailed my contact at Gigabyte and now await their response.
