@bosanceros: I called OW sales before the iPhone was released, she suggested I preorder, and then upon pickup, refund and instantly rebuy with gift cards. Because there was no other way to use the trade in gift cards. So that’s what I did.

@ChatCPT: Depends which one you want. I saw multiple iPhone 15 in stock at officeworks and JB as well as iPhone 15 pro 256GB. In my area I couldn’t see iPhone 15 pro 128GB in stock online but I only checked a few locations and 2 colours.
So hot tip regarding these gift cards and using them at JB.
So we know the frustrating thing is that if we want to use these cards at JB you have to go in store to buy an iPhone but due to stock limitation the only way to avoid disappointment is to buy online. However those Visa cards don’t stack.
Solution. Buy gift cards from JB (which do stack) with your Visa cards.
Problem. JBs scam detection will knock you back.
I followed instructions on here from a post about how to circumvent the scam detection which involved buying two at a time each calender day. So I managed to buy two cards successfully online but the very next day I couldn’t purchase and was picked up by the scam detection system.
I emailed jb per the knock-back email and they were surprisingly receptive and simply wanted to know how many more purchases I was going to make with prepaid cards.
In the end though I was in town and purchased the cards with my ultimate card in person and subsequently told the verification team not to bother. But by all accounts seemed possible

i have a better tip: add the giftcards to your apple wallet to buy the giftcards. then checkout with apple pay.
works instore too, just dont tell the employee you are using giftcards, it will work but by policy* they won't be able to allow it if they know.

They generally have to be able to verify the price online. This one looks like its some sort of Optus promotion, so they'd prob knock you back unless you could call HN with price verification
