Did not expect calisto protocol to hit ps plus so early. Genuinely (pleasantly) surprised.

    • does it matter if it’s there and you never play it 🤔

  • +29

With Saints Row last month and now Callisto Protocol, Sony are really showcasing last years biggest disappointments. Wonder what they'll have next month…

    • +7

      Babylon's fall

      • Maybe, though they'd have to switch the servers back on first.

      • +1

How about Sony’s PS5 launch failure Godfall?

    • +5

And that with the recent unjustifiable price rises…

  • +10

Callisto Protocol doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. I really enjoyed it.

    • +5

Me too, thought it was great.

      • So you think the idea of a good game is literally and I mean literally to shimmy and crawl from one area to the next? Besides the combat moments, that was basically the rest of the game. There is a difference between liking or not liking a game and a poorly designed game. It was a poorly designed game, it failed to execute and the sales and scores reflected that. The game was a looker for sure graphics were awesome, but it failed to deliver on everything else.

  • +3

Glad I didn't buy Callisto when it was posted here.

  • +6

Personally loved Callisto. Do yourself a favor and don't play it on a higher difficulty though unless you're a trophy whore.. Needlessly frustrating

    • Snort laughed at trophy whore. You sir, win the internet for today

      • +2

No, i already won it on a Reddit comment earlier today, u'll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands.

Anyone played these farming simulator games?

    • -4

I had a go, but it's as exciting as you'd expect. Perfect for people who don't want to go outside and just want to simulife. Might even label pointlessness as "relaxing".

Usually at least one of our monthly games is a lemon. xD

      • +4

My nephew plays and loves it. Nothing to do with not wanting to go outside. Maybe some people just like machinery and farming? You also have to look at markets, balance a budget and all that. Probably good life skills to have.

        • Aah was wondering how fun it would be ,if into big heavy vehicles and mining vehicles, worth a play

    • Does Stardew Valley count?

    • I've played an older one. It was good if you're interested in that sort of thing. Can get a bit boring.

    • I’m curious. I’ve recently thought about playing a Truck or Farm Simulator.

      • Truck simulator is far easier, at least you know what you are doing;
Pick up load from one place and drive to the next location (you have a GPS). Expand the business by hiring etc.

        Farm simulator;
Shows you how to plant/harvest and that's it, everything else is up to you, buying/selling, delivering and animals… If you don't know anything about farming, your going to be overwhelmed and confused.

I tried the last game on PS+ and after 25 hours I was still lost and gave up.

        • I’ll search my PlayStation, Epic and Steam freebies and see if I have a truck sim in there. Cheers.

    Excellent to see Callisto!

    Farming Simulator 22*

    • +1

That's a lot of farming sinulators

  • +3

I'm gonna plow so many fields.

    • +1

I'm ready to plooow - Farmer Mantis Toboggan

  • +3

Playing Dead Space remake and I’m thinking I liked Callisto more 🤔

      • +3

Well coming from a Pro, that must settle it the matter

      • +2

“ gameplay did not age well”
        Right okay…

        • -1

The level design is repetitive. The map integration system is not great and a hinderance. Puzzles are unintuitive and meaningless. The atmosphere, scare jumps are dated and don't have the same impact since gaming has evolved this. Pacing can be too slow at times. The game is not bad overall but to pay full price for Dead Space remake in 2023 is not great value no matter the graphics overhaul. I'm over 40, been gaming for nearly 35 years. Tell me you don't know anything about gaming without telling me you don't know anything about gaming. You are in denial about some criticism of a game's dated design. Easy to post a drive by hollow comment with nothing to back it up. Jog on.

          • +4

@Justin9mm: why you so angry man

            • +8

@Raynes: Because he's over 40 and been gaming for nearly 35 years. Can relate. I'm (well) over 40 and been gaming for 43 years. You people don't know what it's like… you haven't seen the things we've seen, man. You didn't play the games we had to play… didn't look at the graphics we had to look at…

              stares silently into distance

Everyone is entitled to their own taste in games. Just need to respect that. Regardless if you think it’s a good or bad game

        • Correct, I gave my opinion that imo the game did not age well. In comes Rimzi with his drive by comment, 'gameplay did not age well' Right okay.. So I'll fire back with my own rhetoric comment lol

          • @Justin9mm: Pro Tip even

            • @muzzakus: That was no judgement on your opinion/comment. You obvs took my comment the wrong way.

              • @Justin9mm: Only one way to take subjective matters presented as fact

            • @muzzakus: Bro why you so sensitive? Bad day? Lonely? Angry at daddy?

  • +2

Callisto Protocol is not as awful as some of the reviews made it out to be, it's just fine to waste a couple of hours with. I'd say it's just "ok".

That said, from a story perspective it does have some of the laziest writing of any recent game I can remember.

  • Sony loves to trot out shit games as freebies

  • +1

I'm definitely not resubscribing next year when my premium runs out. It's been really lacklustre and I simply don't use it to it's potential. Guess that's the problem when you buy too many games and have game pass.

  • +3
  • Reminder they jacked the prices 35% so they could keep giving up great games. Really shows

    • +2

Those of us who have taken advantage of sales from time to time won't be paying that price increase for a few years yet. They're gonna be waiting a while (March 2027) before they see any extra cash from me! :P

      • 2027? DAMN! You stacked like crazy

        • +1

Yep. Feeling pretty smug about it after that huge price hike 😛

          • +1

@AngusD: I stacked 17 years into Deluxe in one go… 2039 is my next payment date.. was meant to do 15 but accidentally added an extra 2 yrs. There was that price cap for Deluxe on extra years… so… I went crazy (all with the 25% off sale, of course)

            • +1

@Lister55: I didn't know you could stack it that far ahead? I am on the pleb tier, though… maybe they let you stack the higher tiers for longer?

              • +1

@AngusD: I know for sure that's when mine expires because I checked just to make my comment!! So I did it in 2022… I didn't think there was any restriction!!

  • Apologies I'm new to this - do I have to be a Plus member to gain access?

    • Yes, you need to have a basic subscription to claim games and you can play them any time as long as you are subscribed.

  • +1

    Thanks dealbot.

The games are available in the app now. FS22 has a couple of free add-on's too.

  • Since when did Sony start putting videos and screen shots on the store pages? This is ground breaking.

  • will they do what Nintendo did and have a handheld section like psp and ps vita games?

  • Hahahaha

Sony PSN raises prices then gives you these awesome classics that no one wants to play lol

    Score one for Sony fanboys

  • +1

After years, Sony finally gave me reason to go back to old days offline gaming. Where you buy a offline game, enjoy it and sell it. No more hundreds of unplayed shit PS Plus catalog for me after recent price increase.

    • Way too much quantity over quality these days. I have Gamepass, and have been considering PS plus, but given i dont play 98% of games on either catalogue i can't really justify.
