Seeking Advice on Maximizing Private Health Insurance for Podiatry/Orthotics and Dexa Scan in Sydney

G'day everyone, I trust you're all keeping well.

I'm reaching out to this forum today in the hopes of seeking some advice and recommendations regarding podiatry and orthotics services here in Sydney. Lately, I've been looking into the possibility of undergoing an orthotic assessment and acquiring orthotics, but the quotes I've received from various clinics have been a tad on the steep side.

I do have a private health insurance policy that covers podiatry and orthotics, but there's a limit of $400. Given the somewhat high costs associated with these services, I was wondering if any of you fine folks in this community have faced a similar scenario and could kindly offer some insights or tips on how I might make the most of this budget.

Furthermore, I'm also on the lookout for a Dexa scan to assess my bone health and body composition. It's come to my attention that most places don't provide full coverage for Dexa scans under private health insurance, or they only cover the consultation part, leaving the rest of the cost on me.

If any of you have had experience in finding a reputable facility right here in Sydney that offers Dexa scans at a reasonable price and plays nice with private health insurance, I'd be genuinely grateful for your recommendations. I'm committed to ensuring my health insurance goes the distance while still getting the vital health assessments I need.

Your recommendations and insights are like gold to me as I navigate these healthcare choices. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks in advance for your assistance and advice – your contributions could make a world of difference in my journey to better health.

Cheers,

cheaper to fly to a 3rd world country on holidays and get that all done while you are there.

  • I pay my podiatrist in cash. 1hr with inserts/pads $110, 1hr with foot scans etc $320, orthotics start around $500 (depending on size, style etc). Bugger all comes back off extras tbh.
