Prediction of Future Living Expense Based on Inflation

If you need 50k per year now for living expense (don’t consider mortgage in this, pure living expense) how much will be your approximate living expense per year in 10 year time if inflation is 6%

I saw two different theories.

  • One says it will be approximately 85k per year after 10 year
  • Other theory says 56k.

Which one seems correct? Please explain me your calculation for the answer.

    1st one
    Future Value=Present Value×(1+Rate)^n
    Future Value=50000×(1+0.06) ^10 =50000×1.790847=89542.35

    • That is amazing. Thank you so much.

Use the how long is a piece of string equation. When it comes to predictions like this even a 'real magic' crystal ball would fail.
There's more variables that are not factored in like climate change and potable water. Refugees via humans breeding, fighting and invading (and cliamte change/water) That 10 year gestimate will be closer to 3-5 the way it's going. Capitalism has become cannibalism where every business is eating itself,it's opposition and it;s customer base.As the ecology required to 'actually' survive, capitulates.

The housing bubble will burst eventually. Victoria alone has pledged to 800,000 more houses, pressure is on in all other states to increase supply, and high density modern affordable housing is going to be in vogue soon, when Apple Vision shows us we can make small apartments feel like palaces. I think we'll find when the trillions of extra money being pumped into existing houses is invested elsewhere instead, like in Australian industry and culture, that life will become better for more people.

    • It may burst temporarily but every this country is addicted to jobs and growth which = environmental catastrophe and millions of migrants.
Wasteland in the worlds driest (and getting drier) continent is all but guaranteed. Watch the summer max temps in the Pilbara this year for a taste of things to come.
Building underground might be a stop gap option going fwd, if you can find the builder to do it and the land to do it on.

The cost of living crisis will be eased when it pops.

    Other theory says 56k.

That would be second year living expenses. So maybe 10 year means two like in binary number lol

    • Thanks. That is correct. Someone posted formula in the comment to confirm it is $89K

It really depends on what sets Wizards of the Coast release for Magic the Gathering TBH.
