They're just so fugly tho.. What's the hype about the AF1s?

    • +5

To be honest - they feel really comfy when i go out and i havent actually vibed with some shoes in a whilst.

The light green and white goes well with a nice light coloured linen shirt and jeans brought up to 3/4s.

I have a few more agressive ones like black with red accents so this was to just soften the look a bit but have that strudy comfy feel I like.

Each there own mate - its a pretty good price point for something that usually is stupidly priced.

      • In what world are AF1s 'really comfy'???!!??!!??
I bought some 2002 New Balances that blow these out of the water. Footlocker has'em on special now

        • Womens AF1s are very comfortable (and have nicer, softer leather than mens), you just have to size up1.5-2 sizes. I own about 6 or 7 pairs of 2000Rs. Comfort is about the same

          • @rosebank: I mean, whaaaaaat?
My wife has AF1, she loves the design but hates the comfort, literally the worst shoes she has. NB 327, even 237 are comfier for her.
I share the same opinion, I'm never buying AF1 again, don't like the design anyway.
I just bought 2002r and they are WAY more comfortable than most of my Nikes and Jordans, if not all of them.
Nikes are generally the least comfortable shoes i own, almost all my NBs and Adidas are better in comfort terms

            • @nikoris: okay, I've been traveling the past 2 months and brought 5 paitrs of shoes with me:

              • Jordan 1s just because
              • Women's AF1 Highs - all white pair for versatility
              • NB 2002R Goretex - for Scotland and Asia
              • Salomon Goertex - hiking
              • Adizeros because they weigh nothing

I've worn the NBs and AF1s the most and maintain that they're about the same for comfort

              • @rosebank: Not a chance.
The tech in the outsoles is worlds apart. It's insane lto say they are equal, there is so much tech on 2002, while the Airforces are just flat rubber with a useless hidden air sole, that's 1982 tech!!!

This is an inoffensive colourway of a classic design. There is no hype, AF1s have been around forever.

      What sneakers do you wear?

  • +2

What a chat colourway adlay. Full gronk style.

    • +2

Awww they arent dead ass cuh - on gawd they are fire lad.

Again its not for everyone but its a nice clean colour that is sure not to be rolled by adlays

      • TNs or die lad. Never wear a pair of shoes you wouldn't choose to cop a chase in.

"Nice clean colour" that looks more faded than me 6 year old sister after a 10 cone sesh.

If you like it though fair enough. It does suck getting pulled over every time I go to the servo just for wearing TNs.

If you like the faded look maybe rack some faded clothes from St Vinnies to match these or just snowdrop some povo cvnts faded clothes next time you earchin.

Cuh ya spitting words these kicks are no cap fire with my Nike tracksuit drip set.

Im gonna be COMPLETELY honest ive run out of words as a 35+ yo but ive +1 you - someone downvoted you adlay who clearly cant take a joke.

          • +2

@newti: Thanks for the +1 luv adlay!

The gronk that downvoted me probably has trauma from getting ganked by a fellow adlay.

They look fake to me, the back of the shoe the Nike it crooked.

Subtype doesnt sell mainstream AF1s or shoes - they more limited releases and such. I have a few good AF1s from them that I havent seen from footlocker or Culture Kings.

At the end of the day - they are shoes that are $100 odd bucks rather $200.

  • +3

These are pretty cheap as well if you prefer low and/or a somewhat better colourway.

    • Love them! Just not a lows kinda guy but good find!

    • +1

Lovin' the OzB orange! Waterproof too! Well priced pair of daily-beaters!

Edit: Now I remember reading something like the waterproof coating on most shoes only last soo many number of rotations (then reapply yourself)..? 😪 Sort of on the fence about it now..

      • +1

Just buy a can of Scotchgard from Bunnings for $10

        • Haha, I didn't end up grabbing them. Thought I probably have enough AF1's for now.. 😅 The Supreme's came in last week! 😍 Mids still arriving and got the Sequoias from a couple months ago.

Do you mind if I ask, you know much about the Hyperdunk line? I haven't had time to deep dive into it but I loved my pair from a 2011 (TB) and want something similar to replace it to get back into senior ball.

Edit: Apparently it was discontinued and replaced with the AlphaDunk? NGL, haven't heard of it.. 😅

          • @WasBargain: Another thing I wanted to bring up, along with your watch expertise, was your shoe kmowledge.

I've been thinking about this on and off all day and ofcourse at night when my anxiety peaks, I decide to google but couldn't find anything. After pulling out those pair of Hyperdunks, I realised just over a decade ago I used to wear a size 13 US/ 47.5 EU/ 31cm. I now wear 10.5 to 11 max US or 44.5 euro max and I actually measured my foot the other day and it's just below 28cm.. Google says it's normal to lose up to half a size after significant weight loss, which considering how hit and miss shoe sizing is nowadays, I'll overestimate as 1 whole size. I've only gradually lost 40-odd kilos in the last decade. I just dropped below 100kg a few weeks ago for the first time since I was probably 16.. 😅 Other google places actually say it's also normal to increase up to a size with aging. 10 years isn't much aging though. Considering all that info, I'd probably still say I shouldn't have dropped 2 to 2.5 sizes, unless I had a rediculous level of swelling in my late teens..?

Any chance you know if it's cancer? Kidding, everything's cancer, but like, ever heard/read/come across anything like that? I literally can't find anything on the first page of Google and my anxiety continues to build. Sidenote, I hope my peepee isn't shrinking at the same rate. I'll start inverting soon.. TIA! <3

            • +1

@WasBargain: I've been travelling a lot with long flights and noticed my feet get swollen, so I got a pair of compression socks.

As for ageing and weight loss, nfi mate. Same with dunks of any variety

I wish I could give more than a “plus” for this description! Hope the gronks done downvote it 😝

I actually have you to blame for my AF1 kink now; there was a deal in APR you posted for SUBTYPE and I bought 2 nice AF1s that are my dailies now - Pleasure is mine.
