If you're going to buy a camelbak, do yourselves a favour and buy the stainless steel vac insulated version of this. Well worth the 45 bucks.

    • any idea where to get one for 45? if you dont mind me asking :D

      • +2

Cheapest on Amazon currently is $49.35 if you need to place your order right now

    • +3

Kmart double insulated stainless water bottle is just as good for $15 (used to be even cheaper but they keep selling out because they are so popular, so I guess they put the price up)

      • +3

You're the reason we can't have good things.

        • -8

Wtf. Why so many negs and a nasty response? It's just a question.

      • +2

If you want lighter you wouldn't choose it for sure.

        • -3

It didnt cross my mind how heavy it would be. Never used anything to drink from other than plastic bottles my entire life. So the difference is really noticeable and definitely a hassle in comparison

          • +1

@Bladeyyy21: 1.2L of water was always going to be heavy. Don't return it when you're the one who messed up.

            • -1

@Kazzilla: Not really, I the plastic bottle I carried around prior was 1.2L.

If it was possible to return it, I might've. But I'm thinking it wouldn't be allowed which is fair enough

      • +2

Of course they won't return it after having your lips around it

        • -2

Ok fair enough and thanks for being the only one to answer the question. But now im wondering why everyone is upset at me

          • +2

@Bladeyyy21: Probably because there's no hope someone would take a return on a used water bottle that doesn't have any issues with it.

    • I highly agree!

    • I’ve got both. The 1L stainless is the same size and weight of the 1.5L plastic. I prefer the plastic. Lighter and easier to carry

      • Sure, but I'm outdoors quite a bit. After a hike in the blistering sun, I'd rather have 1L of ice cold water rather than 1.5L of warm water. Worth the compromise for my case.

  • +2

Cap is very difficult to clean by hand if you dont have a dishwasher.

    • Also not easy to screw back on(my son has been complaining about it)

  • +2

The bottle is also a bit too wide to slot into the side pockets meant for bottles in most bags

Don't waste your money.. we went through the CamelBak stage for a short while.. then discovered Yeti. Be careful it's insanely good products and highly Addictive!!! Even my 2 and 3 year old all have 2 bottles each.
Definitely recommend the 36oz($69.95) or 46oz($84.95)

    • i agree. the camelbac bottles don't agree well. i switched to aliexpress for equivalent and half the price.
I'll check out yeti for premium bottles

      • Which bottle from Ali?

        • +7

          Camubuck

          • @Stopback: Link please

            • +1

@designate: search on AliExpress (ozbargain not showing to post link):

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! AU$6.02 50%OFF | Large Capacity Water Bottle Gym Fitness Drinking Bottle Outdoor Camping Climbing Hiking Sports Shaker Bottles Fashion Kettle NEW

    • This is the only brand where I've found it's easy to clean the lid without a dishwasher (I've got the 36oz)

    • Yeti love. I found TotalTools has the best local stock

    • How does the CamelBak Chute compare to the Yeti equivalent (i think it's the Yonder)?

I'm looking for a decent lightweight bottle.

  • Frank Green?

    • +6

Notorios for leaking, overengineered and hard to clean lids

    • +2

I have the one with the button lid. It leaks water and it's a bitch to clean.

      • Same here. Push button leaked and had to be disassembled to clean other wise mould grows inside the spring area.
Replaced with screw on lid. Good for 5 years so far.

  • +1

Spend the extra and get a Yeti. You’ll never look back

    • +1

If it me or yeti basically never go on sale anymore? Doesn’t have any listings on eBay or amazon either.

      • +1

You can sometimes get BCF vouchers at Cole’s for 10-15% off then get them but really hard to get discounted.

All yeti stuff is great quality I have purchased too much of their stuff :(

        • I was just about to ask this! I'm looking for the yeti cooler on wheels but $750 is a bit rich……
A discount code would be awesome!!
I've never seen a yeti product on sale not even during boxing day sales.

        • Do the 1L YETI's fit in car cup holders?

Looking for a larger capacity one that does

          • @G Wok: 46oz won't. 36oz should depending on car design.
Won't fit in door cup holders though on either of our cars.

  • +4

    Zojirushi is even better.

    • Zojirushi Comes in 1L? I’ve only ever seen (and own) and smaller thermos bottles…they are really nice though.

      • Can’t find a 1L either. Let me know if you do.

    Hydro homies unite

  • I've used this for a couple of years. I like it. It's a water bottle. Nothing more to say at this time

  • This is a plastic bottle, doesn't really compare to insulated frank greens or yeti's.

This is great if you don't really like cold water or want something light to throw in a bag when you're out walking or hiking or something.

  • Used to be a fan of camelbak but their lids are a btch to clean…. Definitely over engineered and horrible UI!!

Never tried yeti but seems like that's the next best option?

  • +1

No love for Contigo? Have 2 and happy with them.

    • Which ones?

      • A smaller West Loop Autoseal and a larger Byron Snapseal. I especially love the former, just wish it was larger. Got them at a great price from Amazon a few years back.

  • +1

If you feel weird about having a plastic nozzle that you slowly consume as your saliva breaks it down (mine became rough to the touch and degraded after a few months), these silicon nozzle Ello bottles are great

I will always recommend Camelbak purely based off their excellent warranty. I've had various chutes, eddy's over the years and when the lids start leaking, raising a warranty request is easy on their site and they send out a replacement lid.
