How Does Coles Prepaid SIM Work?

Noticed at Coles today that some of its prepaid SIM were on sale. The $150/120GB has dropped to &119. I asked the staff there about the following questions but she didn’t really know the answer:
1) When must the SIM be activated?
2) Can the SIM be used as a personal hotspot for multiple devices?

Does anyone the answers?

I looked at the website & it says -

Activate within 30 days of purchase

  • Thanks for the info. Will try their Web chat tomorrow.

I have just read the Coles Mobile reviews on ProductReview and the overall rating was 1.9 out of 5. Doesn't sound too good.

    • I had an issue porting my number into Coles, took quite a number of days with absolutely no idea of when the issue would be resolved and me paying for an extra month's recharge with my substantive telco (as I couldn't be without a phone) to finally have it all sorted out.

What a useless shower of shit the 'Coles Mobile Team' were to deal with when something goes wrong.

As soon as my month was up I left, and I've been gleefully taking family members with me ever since.

How Does Coles Prepaid SIM Work?

    This explains it really well….

  • I asked the staff there about the following questions but she didn’t really know

ofcourse dude how the heck they could know about it unless they were using coles mobile themselves (or used it in past).

  • It can be used as a hotspot, I have one and use it like this often for my child's phone.

  • I'm using the Coles SIM and can confirm it works with hotspot.

When I got mine, they offered extra data if I activated by the end of that month (which I did). I can't remember if there was any hard dateline the SIM had to be activated.

    • Thanks @donga and @ddhar for the confirmation. I mainly want to use it as a hotspot for a few phones.

      • If it's for data and you can get good Vodafone service then Kogan Mobile 365 day plans might be worth looking at - their usual 120GB small plan is practically the same price as the Coles 120GB plan when it's on special.

        • Thanks @shutupandtakemymoney. Will keep an eye on that.

I wonder how Coles Mobile could include unlimited international calls to 15 countries in their 365-day prepaid price.

  • I recently got the same one, and I can use it as a hotspot for a tablet and laptop. I don't usually do it though, just when NBN was down but they were streaming well.
