Thanks for letting us know you're selling these but what's the bargain…

    It's cheaper at Techbuy

Gadgets Boutique has free shipping - Tech Buy does not, so the Candy Shell (which you linked to) is actually cheaper at Gadgets Boutique. Didn't check the other cases.

      • Techbuy offer free pickup in Sydney, so to 4 million people it's cheaper at Techbuy

Also this is not a discount on their normal price. And there are businesses selling cheaper. What a bargain..

          $7.9 for Sydney postage

    Just black?

For now, that's all we have on hand,

  • Just looking at the front page. Erm… How can the offer be valid until 31 September?

Anyhoo, have ordered a Pixelskin HD. Loved my Pixelskin HD with my iPhone 4…

    iPhone 5 Case $29 (RRP $35)
We just got our first batch of Speck iPhone 5 cases

How many have you sold for $35 to claim you are now discounting them ???

    • -1

      Dude

Your missing the point, rrp is what specified by Speck and what apple store will sell for

What we sell is whats on offer

Unless you find a better deal than this is the best available in Australia

      • +1

        Dude,

Quoting RRP when you don't normally sell at that price is called "Deceptive and Misleading" advertising… Familiarise yourself with the law…

        http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/815334

Read the section on "Comparisons with the recommended retail price (RRP)"

        • Exactly, what is current and what's not

          The quoted are CURRENT rrp,

If it makes you feel any better, would it made a difference if it was listed as $35 a day ago?

        • And there is no mistake what we offer is the best deal on this product

          That's enough said.

        • +2

          The quoted are CURRENT rrp

          What part of

"If traders do not normally price their goods at the RRP, it may be misleading to give you the impression that they do. "

          Do you not understand ???

Do you normally sell this case at the RRP you quoted ??? If not, according to the ACCC, this is Deceptive and Misleading Pricing, and is illegal under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.

        • Seriously, enough time spent debating with you.

Rrp listed so people know what's the current retail price to make a comparisons

This is oz bargain, as retailers we post if we are offering a product at the lowest price available. Enough said

Lol, sue me if it makes you feel better

        • +2

Rrp listed so people know what's the current retail price to make a comparisons

It is against the law in Australia to compare with RRP when you do not normally sell at RRP…

If that's you attitude to consumer law, it's obvious that your site is one to be avoided… Wouldn't want to imagine what to expect if there was a problem with the order…

        • +1

no misleading or deceptive conduct here.

it would be different if the seller was actually the manufacturer or a unique seller who made up an RRP and then claimed to sell below it. In this case they're distributors. the Speck company sets an RRP benchmark/cap which most sellers are willing to follow. if they sell this good immediately below RRP, it is not Misleading or Deceptive.

        • jv, take it easy and try not to read between the lines

its very black and white here.

        • +2

This is oz bargain, as retailers we post if we are offering a product at the lowest price available.

But not by putting deceptive and misleading comments in the title and description…

        • +2

no misleading or deceptive conduct here.

read the link above, it's quite clear that it's illegal to make comparisons to RRP when you don't normally sell at RRP… The law is for sellers, not manufacturer's…

        • lol, with the number of threads spent on this,

I'm sure others can make a call.

Mate, the only reason why your getting my reply is because we care.

I'm sure you will have more to say.

But i will draw the line here.

        • ^ His posts are actually informative and helpful. Thanks jv.

Very bad (and just plain 'dumb') attitude from rep.
    Not really a bargain.

  • +1

The real subject of the debate should be are there better prices. Yes, if you can pick up from TechBuy.

If not, the price is cheaper than RRP and delivery is free. For some people it would be a bargain.

Yes, comparisons with RRP may be misleading. But the operative word is may. Aceboy884 does not have strike-through pricing on his website (TechBuy do). Strike-through pricing against RRP would be one of many factors the ACCC would look at if they were to ever care about this retailer.

Not having an iPhone 5, I can't comment overall on whether the price is good or not. But cheaper than RRP, free delivery, and 20% off if you order 2 seems like a bargain.

If someone has seen a better price that's what should be shared here.

Unless OzBargain is now an affiliate of http://www.loweringthebar.net/ this all seems like a pointless debate and I have ironically added to it.

To the rep. Thanks for posting the deal, I shared it with a few friends.

    • Thanks mate

    • +2

The real subject of the debate should be are there better prices.

Actually, low price is useless if REP has bad reputation; and, he's not doing himself (and his company) any favours by exposing his dismissive attitude, which would most likely be similar if there's a support or warranty issue.

      • The opposite of caring is indifference

It's the weekend and these threads are replied at night

I agree with cytotoxic, jv you are nothing but a troll. Please go away.

Neg'ed. Jv has been a part of ozb for a long while and i'd miss not seeing his posts, we all accept him as jv. if you don't like it ignore it…

  • What this thread tells me as a rep, we should keep our mouths shut when someone complains

There's no point of debating and the whole argument no longer based around the advert

    But our attitude.

Well you have it, it does piss me off when someone neg a deal because of

    How its advertised

    Not

    What is advertised

    And

For pointing out a mistake made at a competitors site.

Maybe better just to keep our mouths shut next time round

    • +1

No, if you removed the "RRP" from the title, the deal would have been judged purely on current price of the item. However, (it's quite obvious that) your dismissive attitude prevented this and the result is that the deal is marred and (more than likely) you lost customers.
The good news for you is that you won't have to deal with customers who expect more service than you're (obviously) willing to provide. So, everyone's a winner, really.

  • Alex

    Thanks for pointing that out,

Help me out here, how should customers know what is sold elsewhere if we don't make reference to RRP

    • +1

Simple.. Don't refer to anything that cannot be substantiated. If you're claiming that RRP is $X, prove it; if you're claiming you're the cheapest, prove it; if you're claiming to be cheaper than another retailer, provide a link to it.
If you can't (or unwilling) to prove anything, just put your price in the title and let OzBs figure it out its legitimacy as a bargain. True bargains get sold out (or "ozbargained") without any BS required.

      • This is a new product

RRP is what listed and sold by speck themselves

That was my point in the first reply

        • And on the point of competitor comparison,

Others already did with another link and its proven.

        • Which part of "if you're claiming that RRP is $X, prove it" is unclear? Sigh.

        • If you must, I will type it for you

          Speckproducts.com

        • Don't be daft or assume others are. Speckproducts's US online webstore price is not (AUS) RRP.
BTW, you're digging your own hole with your replies; most certainly, not winning customers.

        • Well there's no official listed price in Australia because apple store don't even have it listed

But if Apple store any guide, $35 is the selling price based on the old 4S model

Your calling us bs and want our facts substantiatied

Nothing less, but one would assume you know the brand if we are discussing the validity of the RRP

        • Well there's no official listed price in Australia because apple store don't even have it listed

So you looked up an America RRP in USD and then fabricated an Australian one in AUD?

        • US prices are usually if not (always) lower than AU RRP

Obviously you guys can't take our word for it, so here you go.

IF Apple store Australia list this for anything less than AU $35.

We will refund in full to any customer who have purchased from this deal and they keep the case for free.

But if you need further proof, then i suggest it should be substantiated before calling us b/s.

  • Can you guys get the PixelSkin HD iPhone 5 in the Harbor? Kinda bored of black on black.

  • anyone in melbourne want to share an order for 20%

    • Hi, I dont mind sharing with you and getting one of this case. thanks
