Yo I was looking for air fryers just yesterday and remembered the last time this was posted and was like damn I should've got one back then… EVERYTHING COMING UP MILHOUSE

  • Maybe just bad luck and a faulty unit. I was not able to clear the burn plastic smell from the unit I brought back in July. Followed the manual and Google suggestion of bake in the unit for a couple of hours. Have to return it in the end.

    • Same here, ive had it on for hours now too, I think other people cant smell! I have it out side and i can smell it from inside! Im trying 2 more 40 mins sessions and if it still smells its going back!

      • the plastic smell comes from the plastic part with vents between the basket and the handle when you pull the tray out. The nonstick tray itself seemed to be fairly odourless. I rinsed those vents out with warm soapy water and the smell was reduced for me

  • Do I need this? What would I be cooking as I have a 2 & 3 year old.

      Chips, nuggets, etc.

Mine was delivered today and I had my first chicken in an air fryer. I was very happy with the result. Faster cooking time, drawing less power than oven and the chicken has nice crispy skin but juicy inside and well cooked throughout. Going to test with chips tonight. At this price, definitely a good buy.

  • Is this worth the extra ~$50 over the 4L Instant Pot version?
I think 90% of what I’d use it for is sweet potato chips as a side dish. The 4L says it can hold 680g which is basically a whole bag which should be enough for one sitting.

    • Ha. Sweet potty chips as a main? ;)

We got the 5.7L one and used it last night for sweet potato chips…..cooked half the bag and it was done in half the time (10mins) and missus was in awe how much drier and crispier teyt were. So far so good.

Any larger and we'd use the over but I reckon the 5.7L would fit a small-ish whole chook.

      • Hahaha I probably should have elaborated…the whole bag of sweet potty chips isn't just for me otherwise it would be a main dish! When I've got the kids though they go down a treat as a side dish with some meat and salad, home made burgers or whatever.

Just trying to work out if the 4L version will be enough of if I should spring the extra for the 5.7L. Has anyone used both by any chance?

        • Bigger is better we have a 10L one and sometimes have to do things in batches (family of 5). Getting this as a second one so can run both when necessary

  • Has anyone experience purchasing paper liners for the Vortex and if so, what size is best, should it be 7.9" ?
