  • $12 delivery to Sydney, still a great price

  • Can this put in sedan ? And has to be running all the time? What would happen if turn car off? It has the backup battery for how long? I just need it for buying meat and vegetables, fresh milk… Not for trips … Summer is here

    • No reason you can't put this in a sedan. Running 24/7 will take a toll on the motor. If you are running it from your cigarette port and you turn the car off without a backup power source it will turn off. These type of fridges don't tent to stay cold very long, from what I have seen.

No backup battery. It runs off whatever battery you plug it into and is supposed to turn off when it detects the battery going flat. Standard car batteries aren't great for running fridges, and people who invest in car fridges (usually people who camp a lot in 4x4s) add a second battery dedicated to running the fridge.

I'm rural and it takes me 90 minutes to get meat back from the shops. I keep a few frozen water bottles in the freezer and take an esky on shopping trips. The frozen bottles keep the esky cold all day. The frozen bottles go back in the freezer when the shopping is unpacked. It's the easiest low-fuss low-cost low-effort solution.

        Legend… Thanks… Not buying it;)

  • i heard brass monkey was low quality and not worth the hasle, anyone have there own experience?

I have recently got a 35l brass monkey that was on clearance for about $160 and an Evakool that I have had for years that retailed for about 10x that. Whilst I can't comment on the longevity of the brass monkey, I think the build quality is much better than the price suggests, sure it's probably not going to last as long as something far more premium and expensive, but I think at this price point they are pretty hard to beat value wise. Especially with a 3yr bricks and mortar warranty.

They're no Engel but definitely do the job. Best part is the 3 year walk in warranty at any RTM - and there's plenty of them.

I rate them, especially at discounted prices like this

      • I have had my 50Lish one for about 3 years now, got it secondhand off a mate, and the only problem I have had with it was the cpu cooling fan died. It was a pretty simple fix (just an 80mm pc fan) but was a bit fiddly changing it out.

Thanks! I almost got the 15L a while back. This is more useful.
As an expansion/portable unit for when my Engel is too full.

I have 2 55L brass monkey fridge/freezer units for work and have been using them for the past 3 years and they have never skipped a beat. They are always on as freezes and they get moved from house to vehicle and back again on a weekly basis and no issues. Highly recommend them.

Good price, tempted to sell the 45L cooler and get one of these and not need to worry about ice.

This one also includes the 240 V adaptor which is handy for some tto cool down/freeze oveninght before taking off in

vehicle for short day/weekend trips as keeping cold from car 12 V socket would suffice whilst driving in daytime,

then turn off overnight and should stay cool till next day.

Same company as Jaycar. Just called my local store and they price match RTM.
