AirPods Pro Replaced Four Times - Should I Be Able to Get The Newer Model?

I purchased a set of AirPod Pros a few years ago. They have been so unreliable to the extent at least every year they develop a problem of one type or another which after taking to Apple, they replaced them with new ones every time.

I’ve now had 4 replacements and I'm on my 5th set so you can imagine although Apple have been great the AirPods have been rubbish.

This time I asked if I could pay extra to upgrade to the newer model because I have little confidence in the old but they refused. I’m wondering if I’d have a chance of getting an upgrade through Fair Trading considering the amount of problems I’ve had?

Any thoughts or similar stories welcome. Thx

You've had issues with 4 different replacements (not repairs?) you must be the most unluckiest person in the world if it happens to a 5th replacement I wouldn't be surprised if they suggest it's something to do with the way you are treating them?

    • yes from the outside you'd think that, but I do look after tech. I also have Bose frames, senheisser momentum 3, shokz bone conduction. of all of these I use the AirPods very little yet they are the only ones with a problem.

      • Yeah just seems strange like even if they had a 25% failure rate to have 5 fail…. Unless the replacement ones they are using are dodgy compared to new. Just as a data point I've used the original ones and then the pro's almost daily since they first came out and I've not had any issues.

Get a refund and don’t buy apple products.

  • You go for it mate. Post here if you’re successful. I’ve got an Apple laptop that I’m sure I can create an issue with so I get that sweet upgrade.

never had problems with mine. Shockingly reliable, these little things are a modern marvel. Have never had to open bluetooth settings, they just work somehow.

    • Same. When you upgraded to the newer model, quite surprised how they could make them better than the originals

Give it a go, I hope you have better luck than me.

Faults in my 6th pair I asked and was declined, so I got the replaced to resell and just bought the 2nd gen. This far 2nd gen no issues.

You can ask for a refund in the event of a Major Problem according to ACL. That’s the best you can hope for. Apple is not obliged to offer you a different product as a replacement.
