We (2 person) are looking for a Hotel for 2 nights / stopover in Singapore ( on a way of our UK vacation).
Any suggestions for hotel which might be close to main tourist attractions (in Singapore) under 100AUD in 1st week of Dec2012?

Longer answer:
You will not find anything except for backpacker accommodation or really crappy "hotels" for under AUD$100. Especially not during December. You're looking around at least AUD$200/night for a decent (4 star) hotel after you include tax.
As long as the place you stay at is within walking distance of an MRT train station you should be fine - you can pretty much use the MRT to navigate around the whole of Singapore and all the main tourist destinations with ease. Taxis are relatively cheap too (and always metered/safe due to highly enforced regulations…unlike other Asian countries) as long as you're not staying in the outskirts of the island or trying to travel through the CBD in peak hour.
On a side note, I'd recommend Wanderlust Hotel - an awesome, quirky boutique hotel. Great for stopovers and within walking distance of 2 different MRT lines. Prepaid rates are around $200/night (which is considered cheap in Singapore), but the hotel is worth the experience and definitely one you won't forget! Has fantastic reviews on Tripadvisor too :)
