Man bought Bone Totem Stasis the other day because of Mandaloregaming's back to back reviews of the 2 games in this series and this today lol

I guess it's time to buy again and give away a Bone Totem key then.

Saw that review too. I've never played a genre like that but his review had me intrigued and I'm keen to try it some time.

I then found out that I redeemed the first STASIS on GOG on some random free game at some point haha so I actually can try it!

      • I skimmed the review and he did say you don't really need to have played the first one.

How scary are these games? I'm really really not into horror but some of these games have great reviews. I don't mind reading the plot of horror movies and actually find it interesting but but I really can't stomach watching horror movies.

I think it largely depends on tolerance from the sounds of it. There are some intense body / gore horror parts and the overall themes are quite heavy. They also say that the atmosphere and sound design is top so it can rope you in.

I don't think these games are designed to scare you, though. But they do aim to disturb

@DiscountForThee: I may be able to stomach it then. Thanks for your response. : )

@ozbs25: @DiscountForThee is right. Not many outright jump scares like the first game but the tension building is quite intensive so when it did happen it was much more effective.

Also it is a disturbing game discussing about a lot of heavy topics like death and the pervasiveness of modern science and of course, corporate greed.

Worth checking out CAYNE as well which is free.

  • Is it the remastered or original Alan Wake?

    • It's the original. The remaster is an Epic Store exclusive. No indication that it will ever be available on Steam. They published it and hold the distribution rights.

Here’s Why You Can’t Buy Alan Wake 2 on Steam

Sometimes, games are an Epic Games Store exclusive because money has changed hands. Epic will have offered a publisher or developer a certain amount of cash to keep a game exclusive to the Epic Games Store for the PC release. Often that exclusivity is time-limited, so eventually that game comes to Steam, as was the case for Hades, for example.

That’s not what’s happened here. Instead, Epic Games is publishing Alan Wake 2, so they alone have the distribution rights. The same is true of Alan Wake Remastered, which is also published by Epic. You can get the original Alan Wake on Steam but not the remastered release which — on PC — is only on the Epic Games Store.

Does that mean Alan Wake 2 will never, ever come to Steam? While not impossible, with Epic being the publisher it’s very, very unlikely. There’d have to be a pressing reason for them to release it onto Steam, such as them abandoning the Epic Games Store entirely. Granted, the Epic Games Store reportedly doesn’t exactly turn a huge profit, but I can’t see Epic ditching it.

So, the reason why Alan Wake 2 isn’t on Steam is that it’s published by Epic Games themselves. And if you’re looking for more about on the upcoming survival-horror sequel, be sure to check our full coverage.
