  • Price in titpe plz and refurbished

    $229.00 - Apple iPhone SE 64GB - Refurbished

    Edit , Thank you

    • Should also state if its AU model.
The XRs they sold were US models with no Band 28. Thats deceptive in my book.

Not bad for a SE 2nd gen, are thease supported as long as apples flagships? If so this is a good deal for a cheap phone

    • Supported by the last iOS 17.1 if that’s what you mean

      • I mean for the future and in theroy they shoould get 2-3 major updates, ios 19 maybe but thats up to apple

      • I have this and the latest iOS upgrade is to 16.7.1.
Says it supported via Apple site but mine won’t update to iOS 17. Any clues as to why?

        • It is probably Gen 1 as that Gen isn’t compatible with 17 onwards, where as Gen 2 and 3 are

          • @BatmanAU: Nah I did a search of the model number.
            Model Number - MX9R2X/A
So it is the 2nd Gen.
            Updating now to 16.7.1.
Maybe it needs to have this update first?

            • @zemphism: I would say that’s the issue, as here is the list for 17.1

iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max
iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max
iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max
iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max
iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max
              iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max
              iPhone XR
              iPhone SE(2nd gen or later

              • +1

@BatmanAU: Yeah just did the 16.7.1 update and it reset.
Now I have the option to go to iOS 17.
Strange I couldn’t just jump to the latest firmware without going to iOS 16.7.1

                • +1

@zemphism: One thing I will give Apple, their security is second to none, it would have installed required security patches before 17.1

Would the batteries have been replaced as part of the refurb?

    • No chance. These aren't Apple refurbs.

      • Do Apple even sell refurb iPhones?

        • +1

          Not in Australia.

They do use them as warranty replacements here but.

    • Comes with free face grease.

      • Lol and bum fingers

    • +1

No, but I got my mum an 8 from Cole’s, battery lasted about 7 months, took it back and they gave a full replacement. She still has it 2 years on

      • As in the battery dropped below a particular threshold or do you mean just stopped working altogether?

And by took it back you mean just to a Coles supermarket and they swapped it across just like that on the spot without involving boost/third party? Pretty good if so.

        • Yeah the battery would say 100% when plugged in and as soon as it was unplugged it showed 17%. Took it back to the Cole’s I purchased from, she plugged in at the counter and agreed and pulled one out from the draw and scanned and handed it over. Maybe they had surplus no idea

          • @BatmanAU: That's good to know - thanks for sharing!

    I'm getting old.

Calling a $229+ used phone a cheap back up option, to me, that is not cheap haha
Sounds like an expensive step between getting your actual phone replaced or repaired.

Again, maybe it is just me haha

    • +2

If you need an iOS device, then yeah, this is pretty damn cheap. Used iPhones can be $400-700 for anything still Apple supported (you're also subjecting yourself to the used market…). Of course you can still find cheapo Android devices

      • +2

I think you can get android phones for $10, but pay cheap, get cheap.

        • I'm currently browsing with my Nokia 3 (which is my phone, media server and wifi hotspot). Battery is still perfect. I'm thinking 5+yrs old.. cost $40 (Inc a starter pack).

          • @tunzafun001: That’s a bonus, I still have an iPhone 5S that lasts longer than my iPhone 13 :/

  • Is this good price though?

  • +1

for small phone with ios support yes. it’s the phone work gives us, senior managers and execs get the bigger screen phones. we have about 900 of them and seems to be the cheapest model with ios update support.

  • Is there anyway to select the colour? It says "Available in Space Grey, Gold, Red" but I don't get to pick when checking out.

    • Go to the phone counter at your local and ask what colours they have

  • +1

These were available on eBay for $180 or $260 for mint condition, so why is this a bargain?

    • Easy returns @ Coles. 230 for good physical condition and a lottery for battery condition. You can also do the Amazon route and pick the ones fulfilled by Amazon. But they are similar price points.

  • +3

Have one of these for work
    Battery life is embarrassing

  • Are these US imports, lacking the important band 28?

  • esim ?
I need a new travel phone but has to be esim compatible

    • iPhone SE 2020 is esim compatible.

  • is this better than Iphone Xs?

was about to buy from a friend an used iphone Xs in good condition, which replaced a new battery, for $250. is it a good deal?

    • +1

I have an XS, still buttery smooth and 93% battery. The XS has the more modern design (full screen, no home button) whereas the SE is the older design.

SE possibly had a slightly newer processor but there’s probably not much in it.

Knowing you’ve got a brand new battery (~$90) is valuable in my opinion.

XS can run iOS 17 but that’s probably the last major release it’ll get.

  • Bought one during the last deal. Screen backlight failed within 2 weeks. Sent back for a refund :/

    • were you able to ship back or did you have to go in store ? Coles paid for postage ? cheers!
