Is It Possible to Use Optus Sagemcom Modem/Router for Dodo FTTB?

Hey there,

I have been with Optus for a long time (sick of them) and just signed up with Dodo (with byo modem), as I moved home.

I am having "Optus Sagemcom F@ST 5366" with DSL port as well, which I was guessing it would support FTTB.

After Dodo confirmed Order is completed -> I plugged in the modem —> did a modem reset from modem web GUI —> updated PPP login with dodo given config/settings —> But still no luck. All lights on the Modem looks white but the Internet light is "red". Is there any thing I must do?

Any responses much appreciated.

  • TPG is a shocker to setup. They use vlan tagging so you need to ensure your router has that setting

    • I didn't know TPG is also nightmare.
btw I am trying to setup Dodo. So far not great.

Like why? Dodo don’t quote me but I think uses VLAN tagging too.
Forces you in most instances to use their modem/router.
        Go with Superloop or Exetel.
Haven’t played with the Optus modems much but would assume it would work with both.
They are probably $5-10 difference to what you might save with Dodo…. Advice… pay the $5 extra a month and “skip a coffee.”

The modems only allow @optus usernames to be used. Replace it with a Telstra smart modem 2nd hand.

    • Is "Telstra Smart Modem" configurable with other operators?
btw, any idea if this "smart modem" has got any other useful features or specs.

      Any response much appreciated.

    • Thanks very much!
Got a Telstra Smart modem from fb, it is working like charm.
