Gerni High Pressure Cleaners - Opinion Needed

I had a look at the Gernie 4000 limited edition high pressure cleaner at Bunnings.

I am not sure I need all the attachments but it seems to be value for money.

2030 psi.

Replacement warranty.

My old Ryobi 2030 psi broke down a week ago.

Need to buy a new one.

I use it to clean the backyard and wash my car (snow foam).

  • 2030 psi

Btw as one of the reviews says -

2030 psi is the max pressure
    Rated pressure is 1377 psi

It’s as per the manual. Just checked the manual on Bunnings site and it’s still the case.

    • Regardless of the pressure it's still 7.5L/minute.

If you are after an electric washer for your backyard and car, then find a brand with the longest warranty ever.

        I suspect it's a case of….

Shit!, we have all these parts left over because {insert fired employees name here} fooked up.

Brian has a light bulb moment in the back corner of the meeting room

Great idea Brian. Let's flog this shite off with a limited edition package.

      • People have been falling for it for years EG:- McDonalds, Chivas Regal, Hungry Jacks/Burger King, Apple etc

    • I thought that would be Ozito,

      • true story??

        • +1

Not as bad, but from my experience Ozito make value for money products. I took a drill back at least 3 times. My GMC was far better. Hence I use another brand now. 2 friends of mine are Bunnings store managers, and they said some Ozito items are good, but the majority will do the job for basic weekend use. Anthing more, and they maybe okay, but most likely fail due to wear and tear.

  • Bunnings policy:

Ryobi and Gernie - replacement warranty

Karcher - send it to the workshop and fix it.

Gernie comes with 5 year warranty and is a Bunnings exclusive.

The Ryobi that just broke down was excellent.

    • I had a Ryobi, and the nozzle part busted, and I changed the whole unit over.

      • Really?
The inlet broke on our Ryobi pressure washer and they basically said, it's not a replacement part and to get a garden fitting.

I threw the filter inlet away and should have kept that and taken the whole unit back

  • Gerni accessories are only covered by 2 year warranty, I found out when trying to claim warranty replacement for faulty spray gun after only 3.5 years of light to moderate use.

    • Thanks for that.

Is it a good pressure washer otherwise?

It's OK for the price. You would not want one if you were trying to make a living pressure cleaning stuff. It's fine for using it around the house on a monthly basis and perhaps on vehicles weekly. It's dealt well with some pretty bad stains and mould on concrete, pavers, bare brick walls and rendered / painted walls.

Some of the accessories are definitely must haves. The rotating patio/floor brush is a must, as is the rotating impact nozzle. I find the foam bottle handy for car washing. I tried the extension lance with the rotating window washing brush for windows that are high up, but the problem is that water just runs down the handle and all over you - so not the greatest way to go.

There is also a 90° nozzle intended for washing under the car - it works really well for that, but even better, it's great for washing out kegs and fermenters.

Looking at the accessories for the 4000, the detergent brush seems pretty pointless to me as does the mag wheel brush. The set of accessories on the 3600 is more useful and the pressure difference won't matter unless you want to use it for blasting paint off surfaces (in which case you may want to hire a petrol powered unit).

If there are any shortcomings they would be that the high pressure hose is not quite long enough to go all the way around a car, so you may need to move the main unit to either side. The hose is also not super firm and it can tangle. I believe both of those issues are fixable with replacement/extension hoses which are available as an extra. I have not find it enough of a problem to bother doing anything about it.

I find the Gerni to be better than two models of Karcher cleaners that I used about 15 and 5 years ago. We had the Gerni 3600 for a year and a half and so far no problems. It was good value when on special for about $190.

    • Warranty: 5 Years (2 Year Standard +3 Year Online Extension)

I would not accept that. Very misleading.

  • BTW the Aldi Ferex one is on sale at $49 at my local. Don't know if it's any good

    • +1

Big issue with the Aldi, is that when you take it back, they can't swap it. For $49, it might be worthwhile, depending on the wty length.

    Is this the Autographed one?

    • Yes. By Gernie Scmackos😀

  • Buy an AVA P60, 20 year warranty if you service it every 5 years.

    • max 500L / minute??!!!
      What is this monster?!

  • UPDATE:

I decided on this one. I had a very good deal on a damaged box with a brand new one.

Very happy. It has all the attachments that I will actually use.

    5 Year warranty.

    • What was the very good price for a damaged box? Might see if there are any local stores with damaged boxes!
