New Car Delivery Date Estimator?

I'm curious about the accuracy of the current waiting time for new car delivery in Australia displayed on the following website:

New Car Delivery Date Estimator

Is the information provided there reliable?

Do you have alternate information that contradicts it?

I don't have any current information, hence asking.

Thanks for responding to my question with a question though!

In the absence of any alternate information, the information on that site looks to be accurate.

    YMMV.

I would say that the best thing to do is shortlist a few models and then call up the dealer(s) to get confirmation of an "estimated" delivery date. Even the dealers who have direct access to the supplier systems may not have accurate information and things can change along the way.

    • 100% correct

I wonder if anyone here that bought a new car recently got it on the originally scheduled date????

Have you even tried calling a dealer? This webpage you posted is pointless. Some cars are going to be in stock, some are going to have to be ordered. It all depends on model, trim, accessories, and lots of other factors.

You could walk into a dealership today and be told they have the car you want in stock… But, you know, just post a random link to a random page with absolutely no context of what you are even looking for.

"Hey, I found this website that estimates the length of random pieces of string… Does anyone know if this website is accurate?"

      Do you have the URL?

I'm also interested in this string website. Please provide more info.

    1. Obtain Magic 8 ball.
    2. Ask Magic 8 ball if new car is coming today.
    3. Magic 8 ball says 'All signs point to No'.
    4. Wait for tomorrow and go back to Step 1.
  • It’s an average. There will be outliers in any particular set of data. It also depends on how they get that data - is it reliable? Use it as a starter point then go contact dealers.

On top of that I assume most buyers don’t look at the list and decide which car based on when it’s going to arrive.

  • Use a broker
Lead time varies a lot between dealerships

    • which best carbroker ?

        I used Motor Scout
Car I was after varied between 4-12 months
Was delivered in 4 months as promised or maybe I got lucky

  • You could buy used if you don't want to wait. A recent car that has been regularly serviced is as good as new, well minus the year or two it has been run in. But you could detail it to make it smell like new again.

  • Toyota RAV4 is 328 days

    Looks about right

  • Seems accurate for the Range Rover Sport. Not enough data. Been waiting since August last year, was meant to be coming this December but it's still not built.
