@beltdrive: I think it was a special one too apparently. Got it for $85 from the Nike store. The box it came in was shit though - way too small for the shoes, but it matched the turquoise!
Triple Red is absolutely hideous.
I started collecting air max 90s about 3 years ago – 25 pairs in, I realise you just cant keep up, the rate at which nike churns out variations of this shoes is mind blogging. Although I like that they reduced the leather blocking in the later iterations of the shoe.
I do have the quintessential pairs that make this shoe iconic, eg infrared reds 2013 and bacon 2021 but I went from hunting for rarer pairs to just buying CWs that I like recently, which does my wallet no good at all. Before anyone asks, I only wear approximate 10% of my collection lol (my alltime favs are the anthracite terrascapes).Yeah it's a false economy with shoes. Realised too late as well and now I have a whole bunch of shoes that have never been out of the box. They're not really rare either, so very hard to get rid of.
And back on topic with the AM90, I missed out on the Curry ones. Man they were nice.
@Munki: Better start wearing them, especially if not even rare - I've seen videos of the soft rubber on those shoes disintegrating after a while (maybe 6-10y). Shoes are made to be worn!
@G-rig: Yeah I've stopped buying shoes for the sake of it because of that. I mean, luckily none of them were particularly expensive, but when you have waste like that, it's basically throwing money out.
@Munki: Like you said they are all similar but different colourways. Would be hard to get your hands on anthing really rare anyway (or at least expensive, like those multi-material patch type ones).
Nice to have a selection of styles and colours though and will aim to just clean/maintain a few.
@G-rig: Yeah. It's nice to have different colours to match certain outfits, but if I had to do it all again, I think I'd much prefer neutral colours that are versatile - seeing as those are what I wear mostly nowadays.
Time and place for colour though.
@Munki: hmm grabbed those Air Max 1's (Chilli White/University Red/Pure Platinum/Black) - pretty sweet however I don't tend to wear red - should be good for something different and pretty classic.
Usually I'd go for Sail/Deep Royal Blue/Light Orewood Brown, that colourway is awesome (but not for another $50).
Do you only buy AM90s?
