Macallan 18 Year Old 2023 Sherry Oak Single Malt Whisky $849 Delivered @ Skull & Barrel and The Old Barrel House

Mac 18 @ The Old Barrel House (Limit 1 per customer)

Please don't confuse this with the Double Cask or the other (Profanity) expressions. This is the Mac 18 Sherry. It is allocated and sells out fast.

I generally don't like Macs but this is the only one I buy because it's one of the best examples of a sherried whisky on the market.

I'm currently drinking a 1993 in HK and it's sublime. Only caveat is that I haven't tried the new yearly releases (but I bought a bottle of the 2023 here in HK) after they ditched the 'vintages'. I finished a bottle of 1995 with a bar manager and he said it's the best whisky he's ever had.

That's a bit steep for me, but I do like the 12 sherry :)

The price has really gone up on these. Last one I bought a few years back was closer to $500

    • Yeah I got a bunch of mid-90s bottles from Japan about 5 years ago for $300-400

  • Is 2023 known to be a collectible vintage?

P.S: You also get 6 free whiskey glasses with > $300 purchase - don't forget to add to cart. Nice gift for xmas.

  • For the Whiskey connoisseurs out there, is there a more affordable single malt that compares well to this?

Glenfarclas 15. There are a lot more affordable sherried whiskies on the market but that's my pick.

    • Not really comparable imo, but a lot cheaper

    • Great suggestion

  • The pricing looks bit steep . Have seen it much cheaper . Not a deal

      • My local bottle shop (The Valley Cellars Carlingford NSW) got the 2022 release on the shelf for $799, I picked up a bottle for $760 cash last week.

        • I have many contacts with local bottlos as well, but can't really post them here.

Edit: I got the 2023 for under $3000HKD

          • @rosebank: Whereabouts buddy? I will be in HK soon so keen to pick up a bottle at least.

@CptnObvious: I got mine at Apita in Tai Koo. Try the big chains like Apita and Aeon, but most stores are sold out. Smaller shops are charging up to $4500

@CptnObvious: I saw this shit at TPE: https://imgur.com/a/1JacQxk

DO NOT GET THIS. "Sherry seasoned casks" is some new bs where they fill the barrels with sherry for I don't know how long, and then straight up dump the sherry. This expression is not matured in proper sherry casks which are in high demand and very expensive. Stupidest thing is that was sold out; all the boxes were empty.

        • Aren't they selling just wines?

    • @rosebank I have seen it at goodwood cellars online before but seems they are OOS . Cheers

This is the scotch that Harvey Specter drinks like its water

What's with the emphasis that you're in HK? Does whisky taste different in the Northern Hemisphere?

    • Yes, because I have 2 bottles of 93 stashed here and I'm d rinking it with my uncle

  • Any deals for a case?
