Tangerine Telecom Charged Me Three Times after Disconnecting The Service

Signed up for a new service from this deal

Initially, there were too many issues while getting Tangerine to honor their own offer as their activation team had no idea whatsoever, which was quite strange.

Anyway, they finally agreed and ended up adding two months worth credit to my account as they never got around to figure out the free months offer.

A week prior, I called and confirmed that I am finishing my two months and I no longer need the service. Their rep advised me to disconnect the service from the self-service portal, that way I won't be charged after the disconnection.

Disconnected the service right away, but today I realised they kept charging me ever since. Raised a case and awaiting their response.

Is this legal? Did anyone experience anything like this with Tangerine?

Sure left a sour taste in your mouth

Nah, they were ripe for cancellation.

Raise a case and get a reference number.
Give them reasonable time to progress your case.
If they take too long or the outcome isn't what you think is reasonable, then raise a case with TIO (Telecommunication Industry Ombudsman, not me). Telcos seem to react very promptly once TIO is involved.

      Username checks out.

    • Whoa we've got TIO in the house guys

Is this legal? To keep charging you indefinitely with no recourse? Sure.

TIO the fcuk out of them.

Their useless "customer service" following a major downgrade in FttN connection quality prompted me to leave.
The final "credit card surcharge bill" I received after I thought I'd wiped my hands of them just left a worse sour taste in the mouth than I already had.

Happy to say that my FttN connection issues were resolved within 48 hours of moving my connection to a company with actual customer service.
I'm aware that FttN issues aren't directly Tangerine's responsibility, but my connection went from 30/8 stable sync to 20/3 if it was able to maintain a sync at all and despite raising a ticket with modem logs from 2 modems demonstrating the issue, Tangerine closed out my case as resolved after sending me a generic problem solving pdf.
The NBN tech said my line was open circuit and was surprised I was able to sync at all.

  • This is australia so it is perfectly legal for businesses to steal from employees and customers.
WHO DID YOU VOTE FOR??? if you voted for coalition, greens or labor then you are part of the problem, because they will do nothing to fix this, or the inflation/cost of living/housing/immigration/infrastructure crisis.

    • The question should be who we didn’t vote for?

No alternatives. Not even clive palmer

    • Did you run?
