Kapture KPT-W72 vs Nanocam Connect NC-722DVR

Hi guys, I'm looking to buy one this monitor for 2010 Suzuki Swift. Which one is better? Kapture seems to have more modern interface but doesn't have much reviews on it.
Thanks

This might be a little late for you but I just bought the KPT-W72 the other day and I am actually blown away with it but like you was also skeptical because there are very little reviews

I was also wondering if it's supposed to be any good why is it just something that's made only for JB Hi-Fi and they are not selling anywhere.

Also I kept thinking why aren't there many of these devices out there that do Android Auto Wireless, front and rear dashcam with auto reversing camera engaged on reverse, and still allow you to stream the audio to your cars Bluetooth thus allowing you to keep using your car steering wheel controls for answering and ending calls and skipping music tracks?

I still don't have the an answer to the above, maybe everyone else's use case is different but here was mine:

We have a 2016 Ford Ecosport and let me tell you the sync system in it is absolute rubbish! It's all a tiny monochrome screen with and overkill as the panel contains a full number keyboard and many other buttons we never use.

I always wanted to replace the unit and get an android auto wireless system but I knew I'm probably looking at well over $1000 for a decent one including install and then I need to find the faceplate that can be installed to fit it into the huge bay there is at the moment where the current system is

For me android auto wireless is absolutely essential even if we bought a new car because I have a 12v charging adaptor that does PD 100w and still today most new cars that still have android auto via cable only have a 1amp USB!!! Crazy! So I wanted to still be able to use my 12v PD to super fast charge my phone but also have Android Auto running

Big tick for this unit because I can do that. Also even some new cars for sale don't even offer Android Auto Wireless yet and same with some of the head units

Secondly, Ive always wanted a dashcam front and rear and one that I don't have to think about when I turn the car on is starts recording, when I turn it off it stops, if the car is parked and there is motion it records

Again another tick for this unit!

I never thought about also having a unit that would engage the rear camera when the car is in reverse so that's a bonus this unit does it too

I had to go for the hardwired kit because our stupid car still powers the 12v when the engine is off! So that means if left it plugged into the 12v everytime I got home or parked I would have to hard power off the unit or disconnect the 12v power. Otherwise if I'm at home the unit would stay on and my phone would stay connected to android auto!

so back to my point imagine I just bought this unit for $280 on special and it can do all those things yet if I wanted a new head unit just for android auto that's going to cost me like $1000 and that doesn't even include a dash cam! (unless maybe you can buy head units now that have dash cams I haven't looked)

to be fair with the hardwire kit and the install fee ($280 to install the rear camera and hardwire kit) I paid $610 but still what a bargain for what I've got

if course there are cons though because now you have a separate screen mounted on your dash and it could be in the way and if I just got a new head unit I wouldn't have that issue but if I sold the car we could take this unit with us very easily!

I found one slightly negative point about the unit if you want to mount it on the windscreen the suction cup is in view of the dashcam. Ive emailed the company and they confirmed there is no other way to mount it on the windscreen without seeing the suction cup. that's an major design flaw but Ive only said it's a slightly negative point because there is a workaround which is Ive mounted it to the dash with the suction cup instead and the suction cup is not in view. This option is actually preferred for me anyway since when you mount it on the windscreen it's too far away to reach

you can also mount it to the dash with the stand and double sided tape included.

Last point is actually an android wireless negative point I think and is to do when you have two phones connected. The device is currently connected to my phone and will reconnect to my phone when the car is turned on but I thought if my wife drove off by herself once my phone was out of range of would then auto connect to hers but it doesn't. I found for her once another phone connects to android auto wireless if the second phone wants to reconnect you have to manually tap on the Bluetooth id of the unit to reconnect. Not a big deal it just means everytime my wife leaves home we will have to manually reconnect it before she leaves but once that happens it will stay connected even when she parks the car and then leaves again. When she gets home I will have to put her phone In flight mode so that I can reconnect my phone as it won't allow you to connect with a second phone when one is already connected.

The 12v power adaptor actually comes with a usba port that says you use this to connect to android auto if your phone doesn't support android auto wireless but unfortunately the hard wire kit doesn't have this usba port I wonder if you were powering it with the 12v and you just plugged in each phone if it would auto connect to the hard wired one?

maybe google could fix this to allow more than one device to be registered and give you an option to select which phone you want and also reconnect to the second phone automatically when the 1st phone is out of range. also have an option to set a master device so it will always connect to phone 1 even when both phones are in range but this is google we are talking about so doubt they will ever fix that

anyhow long post I know but would I recommend this unit? absolutely! And again I can't understand why there aren't more of these devices around because they offer so much for so little. go grab one I say. I always want to add both cameras seem great too recording at 1080. The touch screen is also a bit laggy but what do you expect for that price

I hope this post in any case will help others if considering to but this!

    • Thank you so much for your detailed review, I was just browsing JB Hifi and saw it on special so I searched it again and came back to this thread.
Definitely gonna try it out now.

      • My only concern is how they withstand the heat from the windscreen in summer.

  • you repeat most of your paragraphs. Great novel anyway.
