        umm 2 ways then.
        either you try and have a shot of it and i dont really think apple would ask for your student id,http://studentvip.com.au/join.html join this free website for students but anyone can join as they do not specifically ask for your student number or copy of your student id. you get 12% of the price from mac website through a redirect link to the official store. this includes everything you get from the mac website like free shipping and stuff. (you get 2% extra when compared to normal education discount on their website which is 10% disount)

        2nd way,get a friend you can trust who is a student to buy it for you which i really dont recommend as the laptop would be under his name. (but could be fixed if he mentions that it is a gift to you and they would change the name)

    I just bought one last Friday at Jbhifi for $1287. I researched, Kogan was cheaper, but was unsure whether he stocked aussie stock.

    buy jbhifi gift cards at 5% off with Entertainment book. go to jb and haggle, or sit poised for a sale. pay with gift cards. should be good for 12-15% depending on the haggle/sale.
    (then take overseas and get the GST back).
