MIXEDSHIRAZ

"Amazing value", "stellar vintage" just two of the descriptors used to describe this mixed shiraz deal. Each pack comprises four each of the following wines:

Lakeside Langhorne Creek Shiraz 2022 - 93 points Wine Pilot
"From a superb vintage in the Langhorne Creek region, this is stunning stuff. Contender for value of the year. Dark purple in colour, we have chocolate, licorice, plums, cloves, dry herbs and spices, with an overlay of cassis all showing good focus and fine tannins, with a lingering finish. The palate sees more chocolate emerge. The wine is soft and generous with a supple texture so enjoyable to drink over the next five to eight years. This really is amazing value."

Let's Call It a Day SA Shiraz 2021 - 92 points Wine Pilot
"A lovely, easy drinking style of Shiraz. The idea was to go easy on the components and make it a simple and delicious style, which is cracking value. They suggest that they have gone easy on the alcohol, but if 14.5% is easy, look out for the serious wines! That said, it is hardly apparent as the wine is neatly balanced. Bright garnet in colour, the nose offers delightful cassis notes, soy, chocolate, black fruits and licorice. Simple, but simply delicious, and further confirmation of what a stellar vintage this is. Good structure, seamless, generous and ripe, for four or five years."

    I've tried Let's Call It a Day SA Shiraz 2021 and it's delicious and smooth. Highly recommend for $10 a bottle delivered.

      @Ray1913
      With 2.8bn bottles of wine excess to the global market, I'd say you'll find deals aplenty though as with everything caveat emptor. Cheers! RD :-)

    • IMO it's a real mixbag on what you get an usually their scores and prices don't help.

      I was thinking about buying this - https://www.winedirect.com.au/13-bottles-for-13-bucks-apiece… - but besides the $200 bottle (which isn't worth $200, might be $40-50 though), the best wine in there is actually the Tomich, with the lowest score of the lot. Personally I think the Karl's Scepter is rubbish, the Red Deer is good for $10-15 price range and I'm guessing the Montara is their bottom of the range stuff that only sells on discount websites. I doubt anyone would be sad paying $170 for that pack, but $600 is laughable. It pays to look past the price and into the wine itself.

      On the other hand, I've drank my way through most of the Bec Hardy/Pertaringa range and, with a few exceptions, they're generally good value for money at RRP and great at a discount. There's no accounting for taste, but the Yeoman I had a few years ago was one of the best things I've ever put in my face.

      • @freefall101 kind words and endorsement - thank you. Enjoy Sunday. RD :-)

  • Ordered a dozen! Thanks

    • Cheers! @Neil2016 Enjoy. RD :-)

  • I had heard from a friend who follows wines and some of the various guides that Langhorne Creek region 2021 reds were rated at maximum, and some early talk was that 2022 might even be better.

    Of course, this may differ from producer to producer, vineyard to vineyard, variety to variety etc.

    Sounded worth a try & good bang for the buck, so the order is in, and my friend is now on trial 🍷😜

    • Look forward to hearing your verdict:-)
