What to use to put shine on metal plaque oil or wax? I believe the plaque is made of brass but includes some black design maybe paint.

its memorial .
memorial plaques at the cemetery is made of bronze, beeswax can give you its shine(more like satin finish) back, but not as good as full refurb
ps i used to work at the company who makes them

To put shine on brass you need to polish it.
To keep the brass from tarnishing you use the oil or wax.

Probably best to use the product Brasso, it’s made for it. I bought my bottle from Coles decades ago, but probably available at the hardware store otherwise.
