Opinions on Dashmount Android Stereo

Hi guys,

After any opinions/recomendations on one of those dashmount stereos

I'd like it to have wireless android auto and wireless carplay, for both phones that will connect to it and be able to connect to current radio via bluetooth for the sound output.
Ideally be powered by usb-c too. only have the 1 socket and use that for charging the phone and running the dashcam, so best if i can get a plug that will support 3 or 4 outputs to accommodate this too.

So many options out there, and at a loss to what would be good, and have the above.

  • Something like this can solve your single socket problem.

Depending on the car you have, if it can do a DIN-type installation, it would look much neater.

      100% this

just get something that installs into the dash, cleaner, better and 1 less thing that can fly off and hit you in a crash.

Depending on the car it should only take 15 mins - 1 hour

  • I was considering just replacing the stereo with an inbuilt. But felt like when I'm using it for maps I'm then looking down at it l, rather than a glance to the left and not loosing site of the road

    • I used to have a phone mount but I recently installed this in my car. You're right it did take some getting used to. At first I had to look down at it but now that I'm used to it it's just a quick glance, just like when I had my phone mounted. The bigger screen and fewer notifications is also a big plus too.

What do you think happens in current cars? For mine I have to glance to the left to view maps.

      • Yes that is at a good height, perfect possition, mine would be down near the gear stick. Hence thinking of putting it up higher.

I have my phone mounted in this position now, on the dash in the middle on an arm that puts it angeled down pretty much sitting in front of the air vents, I could do something very similar with one of the stereos instead as they come with the same type of mounting arms.

Not in front me blocking view, off to the left but at more of an shoulder height, instead of waist height wher the current radio is situated.

You should’ve be LOOKING at the map, but merely glancing while driving. That’s the whole idea of voice commands. Having said that, I wish my mapping software would announce things like take the second left, or take the third right, take the third exit right at the roundabout. I usually don’t see the street names until it’s too late and can’t estimate how far to the next turn accurately but can easily count how many steeets are passed.
