I got some cheap flights to Bali in January from this deal but it looks like one of us can't make the trip.
I'm seeing a name change fee of $95 so $190 for the return trip if I can find someone who wants to go on those dates… is that right?

Check your fare rules (https://www.jetstar.com/au/en/help/articles/jetstar-fares-an…). You may need to pay fare difference as well, which means effectively it will be the current price - what you paid + name change fee.

Change 2 letters at time. Just ring multiple times and say you "have fat fingers", and "i really should get reading glasses". And slowly morph the name from the old name to the new.

The name change fee is there to stop people buying cheap tickets in bulk and then on selling them for profit.

That's right. Fee applies per, passenger per flight when you make name changes to your booking through the Contact Centre by phone or online chat. No way out for international.
