[NSW, VIC] TP-Link Tapo P100 Mini Smart Wi-Fi Socket $15.00 C&C Only @ Officeworks

200

Make your plugs smart from anywhere with these tp link smart plugs.

I have a few of these and find them and the app easy to use. I've never seen them this cheap.

You could also get Bunnings to price beat.

Are the Crest ones at BigW better - they include power monitoring also?

When on 50% off they are $7.50 each. I bought two last time and happy with them.

This upgrade from Kasa was a downgrade apart from size.

    Me: "Turn the bedroom off"

Google: "The aircon is already off", "The fan is already off"

Me: How about you just turn off what is on then and leave me alone like you used to..

    • Do I need to download a seperate app?

I'm on the Kasa system still and have been worried to buy any more TP-Link stuff because of seeing all these new "Tapo" line of products.

From your response it looks like I did the right thing not to change..? 😅

Tapo is a separate app though uses the same account. You may be in luck; I believe that the Tapo app finally supports Kasa now, so you don't need 2 different apps installed.

The above scenario is the only real downgrade, it's just annoying that the Tapo smart plugs have this behaviour when the Kasa ones do not. It means if you have a room with multiple devices in different states and you ask for the room to be turned off, you hear an annoying message when a device is already off.

        • Ohhh, gotcha, thanks for that!

Shame about the weirdness. Hopefully there's an update soon? 😅

Correct, I was able to add my existing Kasa smart devices and operate them using the Tapo app.

  • Does this integrate well with home assistant?

    • I use it with Google home no problem if that helps

    • Yes, works perfectly with Home Assistant. I've been running a mixed ecosystem of Kasa and Tapo smart plugs including the P100 and P110 for over a year with no problems.

  • Tapo? I thought TPlink made Kasa smart plugs.

    • They did. And they were big and bulky. Much prefer these new ones.

    • Kasa seems to be mostly phased out in Australia (but not the USA where new Kasa products are still being released). It's all Tapo only nowadays, with one or two exceptions like the Kasa smart power strip.

I had my reservations but after using Tapo products for over a year my experience has been great, they're every bit as good as the Kasa stuff. Anecdotally, the Tapo smart plugs seem a bit more reliable whereas I find my old Kasa KP115 plugs sometimes go offline and need power cycling once every few months to connect again.
