Monitor with KVM recommendation

Looking to upgrade my WFH setup from 2x 10 year old mismatched 24inch 1080 monitors to something bigger with a few more features.

I have a PC and laptop connected with a usb switch so I can use 1 mouse and keyboard for both but that has proven too complex for my wife.

Was looking at the 32SQ780S but it doesn't have a KVM function. It also seems to be discontinued which concerns me. Next consideration is a Dell U3223QE which seems to tick all the boxes except for adjustable mount which obviously I can add later.

It's mainly for word/excel/teams productivity type functions
32 inch seems to suit but I could be convinced to go 42.
Needs to support 1x keyboard and mouse for 2x devices.
Must have usbc PD to power/display a HP zbook firefly i7 laptop.

Any suggestions before I pull the trigger on the dell?

Cheers

  • To add. Doesnt necessaritly need what Dell calls "auto KVM" where it automaticslly switches when a new device is fonnected but if switching inputs also redirected the keyboard and mouse to the new input that would suffice. I've had mixed respnses as to whether the LG supportd that.

  • I use the Gigabyte M27Q, they also make a 32 inch variant with the KVM feature. I use the KVM daily on the M27Q for connecting my Windows PC, Macbook and Steam Deck, it also has multi input Picture-in-Picture.

I have two Dell monitors with KVM daisy chained (U2722DE). Works pretty well. Single USB-C cable to the laptop. dual 27" from there. Keyboard and mouse auto switch depending on which device is using the displays. Downside is it doesn't support daisy-chain for M1 Pro based Macs due to no thunderbolt support. Can only get one of the screens with MBP sadly. The Dell Thunderbolt docks will give you 2 external displays with M1 Pro. Downside of the Dell docks is they only support a single input! Can't win. Would need to go a 49UW to get what I want, but cant justify the $$$.

    • Thanks for the advice. Good to know it works and luckily i'm working with Windows machines not apple as ive been reading some of the difficulties.

    • Also not sure if 49 inch would suit office work but still keen!!!!

I have dell s3221qs or something, where you press on the hard button on the edge of the monitor to swap video input. Is 4k, 32in which I find good size

    I have 2 x setups:

    1. Dell 27inch KVM daisy chained to Non KVM Dell 32inch. 27in is in portrait setup

    2. Single Dell KVM 32in.

  • Went with the U3223qe. Very happy with it.
