Dead By Daylight

Hey
Just started playing DBD for the first time today.

Little info if anyone can help

When you buy the DLC packs and it says it comes with a map, does this mean I own the map so only those with the map can play it or everyone can play it?

Some DLC says it comes with a killer survivor and a map

Just a bit confused on how it works

  • The map is unlocked for you to play. You can play the map. Doesn't have any affect on anyone else. This would all be handled by the match making (map selection is random unless modified by an offering).

Good luck with it, I've played a lot of DBD and found it fun.

    • So if I don’t buy the DC with the map I can’t play it?

      • Correct.

        • Ok thanks

          Recommend some DLC to get?

          • @Twisty: Actually I think I might be wrong - maps appear to be free.

If you're playing survivor - survivors are essentially the same, the only difference is their perks. No need to buy any DLC straight up. Wait until you prestige and then choose according to perk.
..and killer is a lot more obvious.
Spirit, Trickster and Dredge are good starting killers - more fun than Trapper, Wraith or Deathslinger who are also good for newbies, but harder to do well with.

            • @foursaken: Ok so when it says maps in the DLC it doesn’t mean anything as I auto get these even if I don’t by the DLC

I like the DLC with Freddy, Michael, Ghost Face, Leatherface, Ring, silent hill as I love these movies etc and just playing as these killers would be cool

              • @Twisty: Yeah that's how I think it works - maps are just added to the game, but if you want to play the survivors or killer, you have to buy the DLC.

                Freddy is way underpowered.
Michael is okay but I can't wrap my head around playing him well. He's a stealth killer which is not how I play anything. :)
                Ghostface - see above
Leatherface is really difficult to get good with. You will hardly face him as a survivor because he's so difficult to play.
Onryo is a considered mid to lower ability killer.

Wesker and Nemesis are both good, and I'd recommend either. Wesker in particular is a lot of fun.

                • @foursaken: Only pity is I just found out Killers are only played on First person so I never get to see my own purchased skin hahahah

      • Maps are random, you don't need the DLC. DLCs are only for killers and survivors. Each killer/survivor has 3 unique perks. Once you reach a certain point on the bloodweb, you can teach those perks to other characters. This is good because you can mix and match perks from other characters for the ideal build for you.

  • Are there vampires?

  • When I first started it came with 250,000 bonus points or whatever. Had no idea what I was doing, put them all into chainsaw man. Also had no idea what the game was even about, lots of people crawling around into the light? I didn't know if I won or lost. So confusing. Chasing people is fun though.

    • Yep, it's a fancy game of chasey that is constantly made more complicated via the addition of new killers and perks. I kinda lost interest in it earlier this year after they released two dud killers in a row.

  • +1

It's just characters, maps come out with dlc characters but are released for everyone. If you're lucky they'll even remove the maps, like the stranger things one.
