[SUBS] A Haunting in Venice Streaming from 31 October 2023 @ Disney+

870

Just realized it will be added to Disney+ on 31/10/23 - Pretty sure it was just at cinemas not long ago. Looking forward to this movie!

A Haunting in Venice is a 2023 American mystery film produced and directed by Kenneth Branagh from a screenplay by Michael Green loosely based on the 1969 Agatha Christie novel Hallowe'en Party. It serves as a sequel to Death on the Nile (2022) and is the third film in which Branagh reprises his role as the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot.

Enjoyed this movie at the cinema. Venice is very cinematic.

Wife asked me to go, or I'd not have seen it, and I enjoyed it thoroughly too.

      Well worth a watch.

Venice is a beautiful city, visited in March this year and it's like you're transported into a different world/era.
just disallowing motor vehicles alone makes such a difference to the way a place feels.
Would watch just to relive that experience!

How come this is a bargain, and yet a wildly discredited far right/far left "documentary" that has been on Youtube for years and years isn't? HMMMM?

    • +2

      Checkmate atheists!

    • I'm out of the loop on this one.

    Is this a bargain?

Surely you must have seen a million other streaming posts like this?!

Not even remotely but get ready to be downvoted to oblivion.

Based on the original novel, it is getting released on the right day.

    • After watching the movie in cinemas, this is the perfect day to release it.

      • Does this one have more 'horror' aspect than the previous two movies? The trailer looks like a horror movie rather than murder mystery

        • +1

This has a "supernatural" spin on it but, ultimately, it is a murder mystery with a huge human element - I walked away feeling empathy for the ultimate cause and person who set off this chain of events, as well as for other characters, which is somewhat rarer in these types of novels/movies

Do you need to watch death on the bike, prior to watching this? Looks interesting

I watched this in cinemas - the only thing that continues is Poirot.

Due to the events in Death in the Nile, he's a lot more jaded. But, that's all you need to know since this is, for the most part, a standalone story.

      • +2

Appreciate the reply, good to hear it's standalone.

Lol i just noticed that it autocorrected nile to bike

        • No problems :) Yeah, that's a funny autocorrect.

I also think this might be the last one that's fully standalone in this iteration of Poirot - they introduced one character who's a frequent pop up in the Poirot universe.

          • @Carmen Sandiego: Do you think though that character will continue in any future movies in this Branagh iteration though?

            • @Astronaut Joe: There's several books Agatha Christie wrote where they appear, and heavily get involved in - if Branagh avoids them all, it'll be weird.

Also, if Branagh's filmography is anything to go by, and his deep appreciation of literary is anything to think of, I believe so.

    • Honestly, I like the original Death on the Nile movie better. I do like me some Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French though. This Haunting has Tina Fey in it which should be interesting.

      • You think you're gonna watch it and only going to see Tina Fey pretending to not be Tina Fey, but no, she fit in quite easily.

      • What the heck is a 'woke'? I know Americans say but still have no idea. I've never heard the same definition repeated by two different people.

    • +2

What woke propaganda does this movie have? Or are you boycotting every single Disney product/show/movie?

      • +1

Just Disney in general… Not every single thing on their platform is woke. Certainly I won't subscribe to their service though.

        • +1

Disney Plus has a lot of Fox movies on it too. If you don't have kids and don't love Marvel/Star Wars then you probably won't get much value out of Disney+ anyway.

  • I enjoyed it, but it felt like half of the movie was cut out? 90 minutes is fine, but there were so many little things that were meant to be explored. Especially after how stunning the last two were.

    Still, enjoy.
