If 25c for an Android App is too much for you, then here you go:

"X-Plane is the most flexible and realistic flight simulator on the market!"

Was $2.99 recently. One reviewer claims to have paid $9.99. Whatever, it's an infinite reduction.

    $2.99 on Google Cache http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:https:/…

    What do they mean by?

    What's New
    What's in this version:
    - Removed licensing service!

    So is it permanently free?

    • Yes, it is permanently free from now on.

In Google Play you can't make an app free and then paid again.

I'm pretty sure this might have something to do with Uniloc (an Australian company) being patent trolls and suing everyone under the planet:

    http://www.x-plane.com/x-world/lawsuit/

They are also suing Halfbrick, Mojang, EA, Square Enix, etc.: http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/7/23/3177205/minecraft-d…

And now there are people complaining on Google Play that they paid for it and that it's free, and are giving it a one star rating because of that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.laminarres…

That said, I hope that Uniloc loses. Big time. And that they shall never sue again.

No, I don't. They are patent trolls. Read up on them. Their "invention" basically amounts to restricting access to their (they stopped selling software decades ago after thaat didn't work out) software to a specific piece of hardware based on a unique identifier. It is an "obvious" invention. Even WGA, which is so simple every Windows user knows what it does, went significantly past what was in the patent. Never mind the shitload of prior art. They are patent trolls. Even if they weren't, they are definitely abusing the patent system with this "new" patent of theirs. For starters, they are suing individual app makers for using a feature Google created instead of Google.

They are scum and a symptom of a broken system.

No, they did not invent licence checks.

They simply patented some vague variation of its wording, and chose to target a indie developer because they would be unable to defend their case.

Now i want to donate 3 bucks to X-Planes defense fund - but there is no such thing as a lawyer that stays bought…

Looking at the X-Plane changelog, I think it is related:
      "- Removed licensing service!"
That's what Uniloc is sueing all those apps for.
      It's sad really.

Is there a way to get these Google apps added to an account without immediate installation ie, so they can be used on a future phone that's compatible (my current one isn't) ;-) Thanks

    • +4

Not as far as I'm aware, which is incredibly frustrating.

Someone is another thread mentioned a website http://bluestacks.com/ Not sure if it works though.

Either that or create an account on a friends Android phone.

Don't worry this app is now permanently free. In Google Play you can't make an app free and then paid again.
