Any Hack to Get The HSBC Platinum Credit Card $0 Annual Fee for Life Offer

I know many who have the HSBC Platinum Credit Card $0 Annual Fee for Life offer.

I signed up for the HSBC Platinum last year but only the first year was free. Renewal is coming up and I need to cancel it before the annual fee gets charged.

Any possibility to get the $0 Annual Fee for Life offer.

    I have this card and you basically get back 0.625% on all purchases capped at $10,000 spend per month.

    If you fulfil the criteria to achieve the HSBC premier, you can get an HSBC premier world Master card (HSBC rewards or Qantas points) with $0 annual fee.

    https://www.hsbc.com.au/premier/

    The eligibility requirements for all Premier customers are:
    you must hold and maintain an HSBC Australia Everyday Global Account; AND
    you must EITHER maintain regular 'money in' deposits totalling AUD9,000 into your account each month (including funds paid into any HSBC Australia transaction account, savings account, or mortgage offset account);
    OR
    maintain a minimum combined balance of AUD150,000 equivalent in an HSBC Australia transaction, savings8 or HSBC Invest9 account. Excluding balance held in an HSBC Offset Savings account or an HSBC home loan account;
    OR
    hold HSBC Premier or Jade status in another country or region.

    The criteria I use is to transfer $9k, which is done by a series of automatic transfers; I just keep the money for a day max.
    I think it takes 6+ months of transfers before you're upgraded.

    • How long it took for your account to get upgraded once you meet the 6 months $9k transfer criteria, and did they email you to notify/confirm this upgrade please, TIA.

        Took me about 7 months. I eventually got an email.
        However, about a week before the email, I could notice that online banking had changed.
        The statement from that month had HSBC Premier instead of just HSBC.

        • Thanks FirstWizard

        • Did you have to apply first to get the upgrade? Or was this automatic?

    • Do you know what happens when you miss a month?

      • I'm not really sure, I've never missed, it's automated

        • Part of me wants to set up 9000 automatic $1 transfers back and forth between two accounts or 900,000 $0.01 transfers for the lolz.

        @Mujaji Possibly pregnant ?

      • I guess you have to do the transfer until you got 6 months consecutive. I got the premium status for 2 years now, but never take advantage of the cc. The benefits of being a premier account holder, you can open account in another country, and the status is carrying over automatically.

        • So are you saying after hitting 6 months in a row you haven't had to meet the criteria since but kept the status?

  • Hi im interested in this,
    1) so if I do the $9000 deposit each month, do I get an invitation? or is it automatic?
    2) do i need to already be a HSBC Premier credit card customer or can I just join when it is $0?
    3) do i need to maintain the $9000 per month deposit thereafter or it'll be free forever?
    4) if i do automatic deposit of $9000 on a particular date, can i do automatic transfer out the next day, do i have a risk of overdraw fee in Everyday Global or there's no such fee?

    • 1) 6 month later you will get an invite automaticly.
      2) not sure about your questions, for HSBC Primier credit card, you need to be a primier
      3) Once you have the card, you dont need to be a HSBC primier ( I have concated HSBC regarding this issue before)
      4) No sure about this one…

    • 4) Yeah, I have an automated transfer that transfers out money the next day. If there's no money available (the incoming transfer was on a weekend and didn't land on time), then the transfer fails — so no fee.

  • so if after transferring 9k every month you get the invite to premier and then apply for the premier the credit card and after approval you stop transferring the 9k in once you have the card what will happen will you have to pay a credit card fee or premier fee if you don't maintain the status? it might be worth the effort as card has two complimentary airport lounge passes per year.

  • I've been depositing everything I earn into my mortgage redraw which is supposedly excluded, but I just went to my HSBC app and it had a pop up inviting me to get Premier if I opened an an Everyday Global account, thanks.
