I've seen there's some websites that purchase gift cards, but i'm unsure how reliable they are, also haven't seen much recent discussion over them so any advice is appreciated.
I won $1000 in gift cards ($500 coles plus, then another $500 (in $50 increments) in coles group & myer), but I do not want gift cards. I know people use the classifieds here but I'm a little hesitant with there being no safety net. What do?

I don't want to use them but I do want the money :) - I've contacted some people initially however they haven't been too keen, especially for the $500 one since it's limited to just Coles

cost, might not be said evident to OP but you need to offer your friends and family a discount - probably 10%

That's a pretty terrible roi in the space of a month or 2 if you'd legitimately be able to use the cards for regular grocery visits.
The safest way is either friends or family you trust.
If not, you may need to entice them with a discount.
Personally I wouldn't buy a GC at full price, where's my benefit out of the trade?
If all else fails, you need to save it and just use it over time.
You need to offer at least 10% discount. Ie $450.
It’s no risk to buy GC from Coles with a 5% discount through your Autoclub or health fund for example.
