What's Cheap in New Zealand Compared to Australia?

We might be travelling there for a month and thinking of bargains for everyday groceries, simple household goods, and souvenirs.

Imported cars. Have been looking at some EV’s and thought about getting one from NZ instead of Japan, and cars that the bong rippers here are trying to flog for $75k+ are about $45k in NZ.

As for everyday groceries and souvenirs, maybe a few bags of their pineapple lumps? Or whatever they are called. Surely they would be cheaper in NZ?

    • Don’t you need to own the car in NZ before you can import to Australia?

    • How will you drive back from NZ?

    • any recommendations for particular car importers for New Zealand?

      • Not sure… the cars were still quite expensive then just getting them direct out of Japan. The same car is about $22k out of Japan and about $40k landed here once everything is sorted. Wife wants a small run about and I was looking at Honda E. There are heaps in NZ and only a handful in Aus. Here the meth addicts want $75k for them.

I was only going to NZ to look for one because they have much more generous EV rebates, so hoping for a used one that someone already got the rebate on and selling it minus the rebate.

Another alternative was the LDV eT60 for a work vehicle. Here they are $90k+++, in NZ, they are $49kNZD after rebates. A used one with low km should be close to $40kNZD

        My search continues…

Other than cars. Nothing. Not sure how people in NZ live considering their wages are quite low and everything is so expensive

    • and yet as a nation they are (were?) a happier, kinder and more tolerant place than here, up until the Mosque massacre, and he was an Aussie. Go figure.
Maybe they just get on with it better. That's how it appears.

      • Are they though ? Considering more than 10% of their population live in Australia….

How are you measuring this? Opinion?

They have gangs and corrupt politicians. The same problems with inner-city SJWs and H&S strangulation. On the whole NZ is just less advanced.

Almost nothing is cheaper in NZ, except maybe beer and honey. We complain about grocery prices here but in New Zealand they are ridiculous. The was an article recently showing NZ produce is cheaper in Australia and even the UK than back home.
