      yes redundant for the millions of functional ihphones with lightning ports

        Those people already have cables. Granted they'll need replacement cables if those cables break, but moving forward Apple are phasing out Lightning ports. So much E-waste coming from this (delayed) change by Apple

            • @dangerdanger: yes but at least an mfi cable will definitely suitably charge your ihphone/airpods

              meanwhile there is a bewildering array of USB C standards for power and data transfer, some hwhich support thunderbolt 3/4, some that don't, some do PD some do 60W or 100W or 240W but wont do data
