Manganese Black Leather Boots $169 (Was $429) + $5.95 Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Bared Footwear

110

I've been looking for a pair of quality Black Leather Boots and had my eyes on Bared's website for a while. They are meant to be quite comfortable and supportive and designed by a podiatrist.

Noticed they are usually around the $429 mark but this morning a sale came up and they have multiple shoes on clearance.
Shipping was $5.95 for me.

No way these are worth $430, even at $170 not sure it is a great deal. They are not even welted but instead look like they use cheap glued construction. I recommend getting some Thursday boots from Amazon instead, will last you much longer.

they are $400 from what i can see, not really in this price category.

      • Yeah..399, that’s Rossi boots Kidman money. Unless I’m missing why the Thursday boots are superior? Yes I am aware comparing lace up to slip on

        • +1

What’s so good about the Rossis? Nice boots but seems expensive for a made in India RM

          • @MaxStinge: Same. Should be no more than 300 given they are made in India

        • I'll have to give thursday a try for my next pair.
Seems like good construction. I think the reason i got interested in bared was that it's meant to be good for feet so want to try that out.

      • Buy cheap buy twice definitely applies to boots (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boots_theory). Well-built more expensive boots are better value overall than several pair of cheap crap. I have been wearing my Red Wings for the last 7 years almost daily, before that i would be lucky to have ~$150 boots last 12 months. I also got the Red Wings for only $250 so that was a great bargain.

      • They were $350 last time i looked a few months ago. They must have jacked up the price like everyone else..

        • Even at $169 from $350 seems like a solid discount. The price jacking is so annoying though hey

    • The site says Blake stitched, but yeah wouldn't pay RRP!

      • Ok maybe not that bad then if they are stitched. Still not on par with a welted boot though and not worth the RRP. Some of their other models are not even stitched and still asking $430, here redwings or thursday boots would be way better value for money e.g. https://baredfootwear.com/au/products/argon-black-pebbled-le…

        • Blake stitched (and glued) for this boot with a thinnish sole is arguably better than Goodyear welt.

These kinda look like its for females?

      Buddy…

      Mate…

    • Women wear boots without high heels? Wow, what's the world coming to.

  • When it comes to wearing these with some dress trousers I assume part of the idea is to show off the whole boot, so are you supposed to wear it trousers tucked into boot? Trousers over boot? Trousers cuffed (assuming a skinny fit?)

    • I'd reckon so, they look pretty elegant to not show off the whole boot.

    • You wear the (same length) trousers as you would with normal shoes - over the boot.

If casual, suit yourself with shorter legged stove-pipe pants as in the image, or wear over.

Bared are excellent quality shoes and very podiatrist friendly e.g easy to adjust inner sole/insert inner soles etc.

    • I haven't heard of Bared before. How do they compare to other brands like Novo or Billini? Bared seems much more expensive

      • Dunno those brands sorry but the shoe feels comfortable and the leather is nice. The orthotics friendly aspect is a big plus too if that's important for you.

        • What does orthotics friendly mean??

          • +1

@Homr: What I mean by this is the inner sole is removable. Not all shoes have the inner sole removable and so you can't necessarily put prescribed orthotics in any shoe. If you require orthotics, or want to upgrade your inner soles with some dr Scholls this is a good thing to know.

Yes they are just glued and blake stitched and have some kind of sugarcane composite insole but theyre $169. They would be so much better than something like dr martens

Bared are super comfy for a dress shoe but build quality is nothing to get excited about

  • i got a pair of Dubnium as my wedding shoes when it was on sale (still like 250 bucks), still use them for work and everyday scenario. Extremely comfortable and secure around the feet and ankle for a dress shoe (like a leather sock).

at this price im sure you can get better quality shoes made in uk or something but they do look nice and very comfy for flat footed people like myself.

Having said that, my next purchase will be Solovairs, Redwings or Paraboots (if i win the lottery) as I would like to try out some of these other known brand shoes.

  • Careful with this sale, a bunch are listed as "final sale", which isn't just indicative of runout on stock levels, but also that they won't honour their usual return/exchange policy. Check store availability and go try them on.

If a shoe is purchased at 'Final Sale', the sale is final. No exchanges or returns will be accepted.

    Also generally on sale items

Sale purchases cannot be refunded. However, they can be returned for store credit (that never expires!) or exchanged for an alternative size of the same style and colour only. Store credits are not transferable.

I have some Bared dress shoes. Very comfortable, came with a range of insoles to adjust fit / rotate between summer/winter where your feet may swell a bit more. Neat concept. But as above overall construction for the pricepoint is not at the top end of the value scale. But I've no complaints.
