Entry Refused in a Competition by Aftershock

I entered a competition listed here on OB awhile back.

Now I get loads of emails from them - but I use a "junk" email for this purpose.

An email today was advertising another competition to win a gaming PC. Just wants name and email. OK. Job done. But…….

Back comes this message:

This entry has been flagged by our anti-spam system. (72)

What does that mean? It is showing I have 0 entries, so obviously not accepted. I have not had problems before, and use my hotmail addy for lots of things where I don't want to use any of my real email addresses.

It's possible that your Outlook email account has been spoofed by a spammer and they are using that to send not-so-legitimate emails. Many sites subscribe to an anti-spam service which provides a large list of 'risky' emails that should be blocked if they are used to signup. Your email is probably on that naughty list.

You can sort of get around this by using email alias feature. Which is a common feature found in every webmail nowadays. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-or-remove-an-…

My twitter account is actually blacklisted too, I think Gleam has a feature where they scan your account for organic activity and if they see it's mostly empty / full of nothing but retweets, they might deem your account as a potential bot account (not operated by human) and don't accept it for extra entries.

    • probably likely, not some dude sitting there going accept, accept, reject, accept, reject.

  • Thank you.
