ATO Payments - Make Use of Qantas/VelocityPoints

Hi all

I have a huge tax bill to pay and was wondering if there is anyway to secure qantas or velocity points on these bills.

I have these credit cards - Amex Platinum edge, NAB Rewards Platinum card, Coles Mastercard and also registered user of Sniip

Looking for suggestions as to how to maximise on earning the points

Thanks in advance

    See previous threads.

Believe option for Beem has been canned. Most cards ATO is excluded. Exceptions are business cards. Check card T&Cs.

Try Sniip. Have used this in the past.

Sniip will work but it's a hefty surcharge, ensure you will put the points to good use to extract decent value.

For example no point if it costs you 1.5c a point and you redeem for 1c a point.. Just do the maths

I thought it had to be Apple Gift Cards. That's what the guy who rang me said.

    • Yeah I got a heap of Apple gift cards with my Qantas credit card waiting for the next bills

    • So why can we use Apple GC to pay?

Purchase GC's from this deal with your highest points earning card.

I have purchased hundreds and used them at ATO. You need to schedule delivery so you can use them within 24 hours of receipt and can only use 10 each at mygov and easypay every 12 hours.
You need to set up a direct deposit of funds into your CC so you can exceed your limit. You can do this with AMEX online when logged in.
Keep the copies of the card used.
You can also purchase these cards in store but more cumbersome. The flybus offer later this week is not as good as the 10% offer on physical cards that occurs 3/4 times per year.

Thanks @Yola . Can you please just expand on why "use them within 24 hours of receipt"?

      • These GC are quite prone to hacking. The longer you have them the greater the risk. If you are going to do this read the old posts from giftcard.com and Coles.

    • Yeah same between 5 different AMEX per day. so 10x per amex card holder. I dont know if there is a restriction but I assume its 10 per day.

Giftcard.com does restrict purchases but it seems quite random. The deal usually last several days so best to buy as many as possible each day.

          Thanks @Yola

    • In case you have AMEX plat edge, do you know if these get 3 points per $ same as instore spend ?

      • Update: Looks like its billed from Coles.. so yes 3 points per $.

    • Hey mate, I was able to do 10 transactions from ATO but only 5 on EasyPay. Do you know if this is a recent change ?
The last time I used(earlier in the year) - was able to do 10 each on ATO and EasyPay

      • I have looked at my records going back to July and I think it is only 5 at a time. After at least 12 hours you should be able to do more.

Thanks for the response. Much appreciated

        • I was only able to do 5 EasyPay, tried for the 6th card and it declined

ATO Payments - Make Use of Qantas/VelocityPoints

I just paid my Tax Bill with Apple Gift cards… Saved 5% !!!

    • Does that mean there is a way to pay your ATO tax with Apple gift cards? Or am I reading it wrong? How can I get this done?

      • Does that mean there is a way to pay your ATO tax with Apple gift cards?

That's what the girl who called me last Thursday said about my overdue Tax Bill.

All I had to do was buy the iTunes cards from Coles, and read out all the numbers on the cards to her…

        Easy as…….

        • Thanks for sharing, however that sounds like a scam, not going to risk that.
Appriciate the reply tho, thx bud

@wshinji: I thought the same but there are 2 other comments above confirming they can be used.

I thought so too, but when I asked them, they assured me it wasn't.
