Recommended Mattress Suppliers in SE Melbourne

Looking to change mattresses for myself + 2 kids
2 singles and one queen

Can anyone recommend any suppliers in SE melbourne. Happy to go with local, and would like to test it out before buying. Yes, we can go with mattress in a box etc, but from past experience they don't tend to last long, and returns are a pain with additional costs.

Is there an ausbeds melbourne base?

  • Sleeping Duck if you can afford it. Silentnight (made in Melbourne allegedly) if you can't, IKEA if want cheaper still.

      • Yep went with the Silentnight Chelsea and pretty happy with it. Got a good deal from Bedsndreams on it too.

Have you never slept on a second hand mattress? Do you take your own when visiting friends or staying at hotels?

A mattress thrown on the streets a long way from a mattress in a hotel or guest bedroom.

@knighty: How do you know the guest bedroom mattress didn't come from the street?

            • @JIMB0: @JIMB0 I clearly have more faith in my friends than you have in yours

Helps build resistance to bacteria and viruses. And worms/crabs/fleas probably.

  • Ive been sleeping on a Macoda for 18 months and so far so good - its a mattress in a box with adjustable top layers Firm/medium/soft.

Take a drive down Frankston/Dande road, theres loads of bed shops there you can test lay on them

    • Thanks! just bought some beds from there! there were so many shops!

  • I bought my mattress from Mattresses Direct To Public in Kilsyth. By far the best mattress I have ever had.

Buy it and don’t worry for the next 15-20 years.

  • Beds r us in Kilsyth if you want good old fashioned service. Locally made mattresses too. Ian the owner will probably be the guy serving you.

I made a relatively small purchase (just a king single mattress) but he still provided excellent service, reasonable delivery with his own van.

And I know what you mean about mattress in a box products. Tried an Emma and a NOA and returned them both as they just weren’t right for me. Bought an Australian made sleepyhead and have not looked back.

  • What’s the sweet spot for pricing with mattresses? I’m not looking for a high end one but just after decent value without killing my back.
