How many socks can you fit in one of these?

Perfect timing for me. I've been looking at July for a long time, and my current suitcase was damaged by Qantas the other week. I'm flying in a couple of weeks and needed a suitcase

Awful luggage. Had a trunk and a carry on pro. After one trip, scuffed. Trunk clasps broke. Carry on wheel stopped spinning. They took ages to give warranty (excluding the scuffs even though one single flight). Then the replacement cary on wheel broke after two domestic flights. Wouldn't recommend.

On the flip side of this, I travelled overseas with my partner, and two friends. My partner was using a July Checked, and the rest of us had the likes of Crumpler, Samsonite, etc.

Each one of our bags, except for the July case was ruined at our final destination. One of the airports were exceptionally rough with the luggage on that flight. Talking broken wheels, cracked frames, but the July suitcase was just scuffed, however completely intact. So YMMV

We have a few July suitcases, and they've been bashed about but still going strong.

Agree about the scuffing, but then there isn't a material known to science that can withstand Sydney baggage handlers.

      • The fabric Samsonites they replaced lasted 10 years and whilst waiting 4 months for July to resolve the issue, were put back into use.

I could live with scuffs IF the suitcases worked. But broken clasps inhibiting closing/locking (and losing items in transit because of it) and also broken wheels in a case designed for 7-10kg max due to carry on is poor.

  • I need luggage and I have been looking at July or Samsonite. I don't mind paying for a quality carry on because I'm handling it. But for check in luggage, is it really worth buying an exxy luggage? I hate check in luggage but 4 weeks away in winter!

    • It really depends on your own circumstances and how often you travel.
If you only go on holidays once a year, Costco Samsonite is more than fine. If youre travelling once a month for work, maybe you want to buy something better

  • I'm not seeing the discount apply on checkout. Am I missing something here?

EDIT: No deal - no discount offered.

  • Hmmm
I was looking at the Carry On and Checked Plus set. It was $715 a couple of hours ago. It's gone up to $750, but now with a discount of $100, taking it down to $650

    Checked Plus= 425
    Carry On= 325
There used to be a saving for the bundle, but now it's the same

The sale also now only applies if you buy 2 or more items

  • Sorry about that guys, just checked you're right they changed it to having to buy two or more items. I'll update the title!

  • Has anyone got a comparison of July with the likes of monos? I'm on the hunt for a large polycarb suitcase - would love a rimowa one but that's out of reach since LVMH days.
