Insurance may not cover existing conditions without a long waiting period.

    Hi,

Smile.com.au isn't Dental-only "Insurance" in the traditional sense of "Insurance".

Insurance requires a Premium while Smile.com.au charges a subscription.

Similarly Insurance may exclude existing conditions (as observed above).

Smile.com.au is different in that there are no waiting periods or pre-existing condition exclusions.

For these reasons, Smile.com.au may be better regarded as a Dental Discount Scheme where "participating" Smile.com.au dentists see Smile Patients (or Members) for an agreed Item cost that is supposedly lower than other non-Smile Dentists.

Some schemes work in addition to Insurance Extras cover, although Insurance Extras cover isn't mandatory.

Another scheme worth looking at is:
    https://www.dentacare.com.au

Make certain whether your existing Dentist (or whoever you choose) is a Participant of the either Scheme you may choose and that your costing reflects the savings you are paying a subscription for.

I'm a smile 'subscriber', and I've had nothing but good experiences being one.
You have to remember it's not insurance and not all dentists give the Smile discount.
I added up the cost of insurance plus the out of pocket cost of one thing I needed done and Smile was much cheaper.

    • Thanks for sharing your experience!

Yeah nah. If you need the crown now that's a pre existing condition by any measure
