Zip Pay Limitations?

Hi all

Does anyone here have Zip Pay? I thought it was like a credit card and could be used anywhere VISA is accepted.

Today at Officeworks I tried to buy a $23 USB drive using Zip Pay (NFC on my phone) but it was rejected. The staff member said I needed to buy a minimum of $55 goods before I am allowed to use Zip Pay. I had never heard of this before and have never had trouble using it for small items.

Has anyone else experienced other limitations of Zip Pay?

You need to use the Zip VISA card in a digital wallet, not directly from Zip App. Just tell the attendant pay by card, no point to mention Zip.

If you're doing right, sometimes it approves upon second attempt. I think Zip has a hidden setting to prevent you from spending over $1500 limit. In my experience, it declines for the first time, approves for the second time when you spend over $1500 limit.

    • I used the Zip VISA card from within my Google Wallet and I made no mention of Zip whilst paying. It got rejected by the terminal so I tried a second time and it was again rejected. That is when the staff told me I can only use Zip for purchases of $55 or more. Strange.

      • OK, I don't normally visit Officeworks. I think bargainers use Ultimate VISA or Celebration giftcard there.

      • Ugh if thats the case, im glad I paid mine off and closed the account.
