Digital Photo Frame to Sync with Google Photos

Good morning all.

My wife would like a digital photo frame and would ideally like to be able to point it to a google photos album (or something similar) to cycle through the photos in that particular album.

Has anyone ever come across something like this?

At this stage I've only found wifi ones that allow you to send photos to it's internal storage.

She doesn't really want a google hub or android tv.

Thanks.

Thanks, I know they'd work, but they aren't a digital photo frame

@teacherer: I think you should let your wife do the wild goose chase.

        Yes they are.
        They show digital photos.

      Yeah google Hub does this..

I bought an Aura Frame for inlaws recently and found it quite good. Bought this because they're overseas and wanted to add photos. Multiple people can add photos via the app, which was good.. pity you can't get it here (well you can but its very expensive)

    • Can download the photos onto any tablet or iPad and have them play as a slide show.

Any TV with built in Android OS will do this easily (and probably cheaper, depending on size required)

    Lenovo Smart Frame.

They don't make these anymore so you'll have to see if you can source one second hand.

I bought one and love it. Would go back and buy more now if i could.

I managed to get mine for $400 AUD. Worth it!

    • Good to know this exists but… jeeeeez

      • And that’s why everyone was suggesting google hubs/pixels/android etc…

I have this one and it displays the pictures on my Google Photos.

Any android tablet with free Fotoo app.
I have a tablet and family OS logged in to the same account.

I suggest you use a separate google account for the tablet to view

Take an old tablet to a photo framing company to get a frame and mat fitted for it.

    samsung 'the frame' tv haha

  • There are no-name digital photo frames that you can buy on amazon
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/tag/digital-photo-frame

These are Wifi connected and require a third party app installed on your phone to transfer the photos
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.frameo.app…

Looks like it's $79.99 for that TEKXDD 10.1 Inch

    • Thanks mate, even cheap nasty ones are around $100, I'll wait for an amazon deal in a colour she'd like. Cheers

  • Any TV, any tablet, or the nest hub is fairly cheap nowadays

    • She doesn't really want a google hub or android tv.

      Thanks though

        • I did try google first, though thanks for checking. I didn't find any that sync google photo albums that were available in Australia.🤙

          • @teacherer: @teacherer Most standard picture frames are old-tech, they don't have much CPU to run Android or OS that can run Google API.
The best you can do would be to get an Android tablet and buy one of these https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/152096966440

I was after this kind of unit about 5y ago for my oldies, had Piix Digital Photo Frame, which sucked, then bought the Google Hub nest, even the other oldies within their nursing home ended up getting them.

Or build your own with a raspberry pi + display.

  • Samsung The Frame 32" is $559 on Samsung Corporate Store

    Echo Show 15 - https://www.amazon.com.au/Echo-Show-15-Full-HD-15.6-inch-sma…

Although I'd just buy a cheap tablet and stick a wooden frame to it, going to be the easiest solution. Second hand tablets are going to be way more functional than cheap digital photo frames when it comes to stuff like third party image storage, decent wifi and a decent screen.

  • Old iPad, there are frame-like stand-up display cases on AliExpress.
